well hari the axis 212 ptz uses a digital ptz funtion so the more it zooms the worst the picture will get it has a few good points but to go better than this you would look at a full size PTZ and if you wanted to go one up on it you would run video anallitics over the top of it and this would give you the full las vagas style of control including Automatic trace or following of a person. if distance is an issue you can run a full analog camera up to 1.6kms or a mile over a standard phone line or cat5 using active transmitters and receivers very cheaply now to do that over a network you would need to run fibre and i have ran analogs at 5kms over fibre as well

i know that IP will take over in the near future but in my line of work the quality and price has still a bit of work to be done to get it on par with current analog devices

1 brand you guys might want to have a look at that cought my eye for quality and features was ACTi. these camera's can have 2 diffrent streams at different settings running from them at the same time, so you could have 1 stream runing @ 4CIF 30 frames to your recording equipment and another stream running @ 640x480 for remote viewing to save bandwidth over your internet connection. These units also support 2 way audio witch could be good for a front door or gate.

I'm not a hard core analog guy its just i look for the best solutions for my clients with there pockets in mind

As a pro security installer i can tell you that i still use analog camera over IP ones due to a few resigns the first is price as i can get fixed camera's with all the high end fetures such as WDR BMBLC at half the cost of IP camera and get better results. Its not untill you get in the big megapixel cameras that the IP camera come into there own but there also big dollars

just my personel opion and hope i havent ofened any one

The SP6000 does not support the APR-PRT3 or now called PRT3 module only the EVO or spectra panels

theres no problem with running UI2 as i'm running a 5200 with UI2 med. The question was more along the lines that i love the orbitor software and i have no remote and find the orbitor does every thing any way.

i just thought it would be nice to have a full clean skin media director as an option with in the case where peaple carnt run UI2 the have a choice to run UI1 or clean skin with an orbitor on a pc,pda or mobile phone

i also thought this could just shut those windows hard corer's mouths that say the gui is ugly (personal i like the gui look) no gui on screen and orbitor would make the system seem very profesional looking

i have my test rig running with no problems and i want to run the final system with pda's as the orbitors

now would it be possible to disable the on screen gui and just use the PDA orbitor instead?

i was thinking this could allso be handy with video cards that do not support UI2 such as the Via EPIA EX as i would really like to run these as my media directors in the final install and give the whole installation a clean skin look

i was planing on a amd 6000 proc with 2G ram and Nvidia 7050 vga card up to 3 tuners cards

i'm planning on building the core fairly hi spec as i want to roll it out thought my whole house

i was looking at using the hauppauge hvr 1300 as my tuners Has any one had any bad experences with these?

otherwise i was looking at the Nova T 500 cards but i dont think they have the hardware encoders

Any thoughts or suggestions would be appercated

Hi every one

I’m in the process of get components to start building a system and I was wondering if any one has tried an Asus M2N-SLI Deluxe or if anyone can tell me if there will be any problems in using this mother board.

Hi Everone

I'm new to this board and found this site after my standard DVD player died and i'm looking at using linuxMCE to replace it.

now about me, I'm a security technician in Australia and use a lot of paradox alarm panels due to the great amount of power and flexablity they offer. The digiplex/EVO panel offers a standard security system with the ability to add access control and a home automation module that puts out a printer, serial and USB connention. The best part is you can have multiples of these units attached to the system, the unit can run as a printer module or switch it into home automation mode and it can talk Cbus (a home automation system made buy Clipsal) or ASCII allowing you to fully control the system.

now i'm a complete linux noob but i have fun by trying to get things working and if your interested i could be able to get you guys the serial comands for this panel intergation and test drivers etc

i also work closely with an audio visual company that deals in setting up highend homes and we both have been looking for some thing of this prodjects calibre.

let me know what i can do to help
