I have a blackberry 9000 (3G, Wifi) v 4.6.0.304 (platform 4.0.0.247)

Much like you I put the JavaMO via the usb cable
I don't see it in my paired list though.  I thought that this was something we were not suppose to pair even though prompted for it.

Initially my MD did recognize that I had a phone with BT turned on and it was added.  That was as far as I got though.

My experience so far on this has been that the JavaMO will not work with the blackberry.  I haven't spent enough time on it to tell you why, but I did take the client install files and convert them to the format BB needs to install, the MD did recognize the phone via bluetooth, but I have never actually been able to get them to "connect"

I haven't tried the Wifi route, that might be next.

There isn't anybody currently working on it that I know of.  Hari was kind enough to create the "prototype" JavaMO, but nobody has run with it from there.

I'm going to admit up front that I have not thoroughly read your post, but I think I get the gist of it.  Correct me if I'm wrong.

-You want to conserve energy on the core by using a laptop instead.  I wouldn't advise it.  For starters, I'm not sure if you have a laptop with two network devices, but if you did and you're serving up movies you'll likely see some tearing (audio/video out of sync) and multi room would be even less likely.  As for the batter backup, having your core running isn't going to do you much good without a network switch or anything else with power.
-If you want to conserve energy at the MD level, look at a eee box or a revo.  super small and they consume very little (possibly even less than your laptop considering they don't have a monitor or cd rom of their own)

-backup network.  I have a top level router with 4 ports on it, which comes down to the core whoch goes down to it's own 24 port switch.  I've had times when the core wasn't working, but I wanted all those computers below the core to still be usable on the network.  Since I have a patch panel built I switch the line that would be running from the core to the large switch to now come off the router.  Everything runs great.

This has to be something recent with the build.  I was trying to build a new machine yesterday and today with the same results.  I did not have the same issue when I installed 810 just a week ago however (same machine).

I've included a screen show of the error: the pluto orbiter package is broken.

I realize this is a very old topic, but I thought it would be worth mentioning my experience with ATT and perhaps answer this long dead question:

As the OP stated, both wanted to act like the DHCP server and it did put my Core into the DMZ.  This did not effect how it operated internally.  MDs still looked to my Core for an IP and still booted up without any problems. 
Keep in mind the MDs don't plug into the ATT router, they plug into the switch under the Core.

However...
I still have not successfully gotten external access to my Core.  I've opened up the firewalls both on the Core and supposedly the DMZ on the ATT router is open.  No outside connection though.  I'm still looking for answers to the cause/resolution.

What sort of stability issues were you seeing in 710? (just to clarify, I think you can answer the stability question in a lot of different ways).

I upgraded to 810 just recently but already feel like there is no looking back to the previous version. 

To help make my decision without a firm commitment I plugged in a new drive and installed it fresh rather than wiping out the old one.  Since you are a mild user like myself the same might work for you.

I think more the problem is the daunting task of actually creating that page and gathering that information.  I've just added my main board to the hardware and here are some of the things that went through my mind:

1)Many other have included a full set of specs for their MB.  That's great, but we can look that up elsewhere.  What's really valuable here are the personal experiences.  Perhaps those should be moved to the top.  And if you don't have the time/inclination, drop the tech specs

2) Not all of us can debug what's going wrong with our MB.  We just know it doesn't work, and we don't want to damn a board that might not be a problem.   In my case, I had a USB and Hard drive issue. I didn't realize that it was a MB problem until about a year later. 

3) The things that I could identify physically about the board were not really the boards fault so much as a combination of the Board, power supply and case that I chose.  Therefore the MB page gets a bit mixed up in it's purpose.

What these 3 observations tell me is that hardware really has a lot more difficulty on the wiki, and a lot more ease on the message boards, where the strengths of personal stories, combined setup issues and problem questions play well.  The one thing it lacks is an enumerated list of all the hardware we could possibly use.  Most of us like to have a list of products we can compare head to head where we can prepare a feature matrix that will guide us down a path to 2 or 3 choices.

Well it took a couple of days, but it finally popped up again.  A manual delete from the DB would seem to have done it.

Please also include the service provider for your phone.  Certain companies like ATT are locking out phone features that may limit its ability to operate as an orbiter.

Very interesting, I had the Nokia e62, which I hated, mostly due to the AT&T cripple.  I was actually kind of happy when it was run over.
Then I picked up the BB Curve 8310, which I love.  I have not been able to hook it up to LMCE yet though.  Obviously still some issues to get through.  I'll keep my eye on this thread though and most likely try it out on my phone to see if I get the same results.

One item does exist on my "Uknown devices" page, however its not this device. I released it anyway to see what happened.  Nothing popped up.

I quick reloaded the router and even did a full restart with no change.

I checked the DB table that Thom mentioned PnpQueue and looked for my mac address and IP address.  I got several rows back that are indeed the correct device.  But I'm still not getting any pop ups.  Anything more that I can do.  Would removing any data from these tables force anything to happen?

I'm wondering how this is done as well.  I have a NAS that I told it too ignore until later.  Well it hasn't shown back up since then.  How can I force the system to ask me again?

Well a slightly sad end to the story.  I did install my old IDE as the main drive and reinstalled the OS.  Looks like it's back to the square one in that regard.  No big deal. The sad part is that my old main drive seems to have lost all of it's media.  Not all of it's files, just it's media.  Something must have gone wrong during my re-installation resulting in it wiping the drive clean rather than preserving it.  There is no way of definitively telling, so I'm going to have to assume I slipped up somewhere.

So right after posting this last time I realized that even though I have narrowed the issues down to a sata issue, I have failed to do a search on this MB and sata specific issues.

I'm not certain it's going to work, but it's a lead, and it makes some sense as to why I had boot issues when I restarted the server with any USB devices plugged in.
