I was wondering the same thing today. Hopefully at least some of them have made it in. :)

Marketplace / Re: Gyration Remotes, Anyone Interested?
« on: April 26, 2009, 05:23:31 pm »
I'm not going to say that they're "New" because I don't know they are for a fact. I was going through cabinets and found them wrapped in bubble wrap in a box. None of them that I've looked at have any blemishes; the one I grabbed from there is actually in better condition than the one I got from fry's since that was an open-box. They all look new and the one I took to test works beautifully, much better than I was even expecting.

Amazon's international shipping rates that I could find (http://www.amazon.com/gp/help/customer/display.html/ref=hp_navbox_596184_ways?nodeId=596194) looks like it would be 29.99 + 5.99/lb, so about $110 for the remote including shipping; if they'll ship to europe. I tried to add a hotel near the eiffel tower as one of my addresses and it wouldn't let me ship there due to "geographical restrictions" (https://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/stores/browse/-/468634/pop-up/ref=ord_cisa_isr). Then again, I might have just not had something correct.

You didn't say where in the EU, so using the USPS postage calculator, I just used germany and figure that should be a good estimate. So, for international prices:

$75 for a remote and receiver
$60 for just the remote (receivers are available on ebay, or will work with any gyration mouse receiver)

plus shipping:
First Class (No Tracking): $20
Priority 6-10 Days: $30
Express 5 Days: $40
Express 1-3 Days: $80

That means the cheapest option to europe would be $95 for the pair.

After grabbing one of the remotes, I can say that they are the GYR3101US units. I actually also grabbed one from fry's to compare and they're the same thing. I've got 5 of these with rf receivers and 2 without. Even without, this thing is an awesome universal/learning remote. I'm pretty sure the rf receiver that the mouse portion uses isn't specific at all and any receiver will work with any gyration remote/mouse combo. I've got to get them moved fairly quickly, so any that I don't have someone at least committed to buy (within the next week or so) by monday morning, I'll probably list on ebay.

$85 for a remote and receiver
$65 for just the remote (receivers are available on ebay, or will work with a gyration mouse receiver)

prices include shipping within the U.S., international shipping available for an extra charge.

Anyone who wants one and can send payment within the next week, just send me a PM before monday morning.

For the multi-room audio, check out the squeezebox based solution. The squeezebox receivers are only 150 and are integrated into lmce already.

Marketplace / Gyration Remotes, Anyone Interested?
« on: April 24, 2009, 05:44:45 am »
I'm handling selling all of the computer equipment from an abandoned business and came across a stash of gyration remotes with receivers that I might be able to call first dibs on if anyone else is interested. I'm definitely grabbing one for myself but should be able to grab 5 or 6 more sets. I do have to sell them for the person I'm working for, but I figure I can get away with getting rid of them for $80usd, including shipping to anywhere in the u.s. Shipping overseas would be a little extra. Anyone who is interested, please PM me soon so I can be sure to set enough aside. I'm not sure which model they are exactly; I'll check for sure when I get back to the building this weekend.

I'm definitely interested in your improvements to motion. 8 cams at 25fps is pretty cool. -elspic

No, I actually do completely understand how much effort it will take you to integrate the gyration into the built in remote so it works properly and fully support the effort to have you do it. I was just responding to Ray_N (the link found using 5 words copied from donpaul's post, Ray ;) ).

Just because you can map the buttons now, doesn't mean they will do what they're supposed to without a proper template being made for the remote, so we really need this guys. If I can find even a few bucks, I'll throw in as well.

You need to move your media into the appropriate folders once it creates the directory structure:

I do still have the cameras, but I was thinking $175 each, sorry that wasn't clear. I'd be willing to take $300 for both though, which is still about half of what they run at newegg. -elspic

I've got 2 D-Link DCS-5300 cameras with remotes that have been modified to work with power over ethernet or normally.

$175 including shipping inside the U.S.
Contact me for shipping otherwise.

Nosebreaker, I've got two DCS-5300 IP cameras and 4 Swann analog camera connected to a Bluecherry Card, and I much prefer the picture on the analog cameras. I've also had problems with the IP cameras not responding to commands (pan. zoom, etc). I do occasionally have an issue where one or more of the cameras will stop refreshing, but I think that's a hardware problem as it happens with both IP and analog. -elspic

colinjones: I'm not sure if that is possible, but I think the inverse is possible using area_detect:

Quote
# Detect motion in predefined areas (1 - 9). Areas are numbered like that:  1 2 3
# A script (on_area_detected) is started immediately when motion is         4 5 6
# detected in one of the given areas, but only once during an event.        7 8 9
# One or more areas can be specified with this option. (Default: not defined)
; area_detect value

I'm not sure if you'd do something like area_detect 1,2,3,4,6,7,8,9 to ignore the center of the image or if it would be multiple statements.

secs: Could you update the wiki or at least post what you did to get motion working so well for you? Do you have a problem with any of your cameras not updating? I've found it easiest to see this issue in a quad view. After a minute one or more of the camera images will stop refreshing. You can actually see the timestamp stuck at the time on the stuck ones while the working ones continue to change.

Bulek: When you say you upgrade motion, do you go through apt or get the newest sources and compile?

Afkpuz: I may catch flack for this, but LinuxMCE is geared more towards being a home-automation system than just a media player. If all you need is tv/dvd, I would look at using Mythbuntu, Freevo, or maybe XBMC. -elspic

secs: I've also got a 4-port capture card (from bluecherry) and have been playing with getting lmce to work properly with it. If you follow the guide on the wiki (http://wiki.linuxmce.org/index.php/Monitor_surveillance_cameras) it will get you most of the way there, however one thing I found out is the "Device" and "Port/Channel" options seem to be counter intuitive. In the admin page, go to "Wizard" -> "Devices" -> "Surveillance Cameras" and the set the "Port/Channel" to be 0 for each card, and then make the "Device" fields "0", "1", "2", "3" and do a quick reload to see if that works. I also have the issue with only 1/4 of the box being filled on the admin page, but on the orbiter the picture is full screen.
One issue that is a major one is that after a while of running, one or more (usually just 1) of the cameras will stop refreshing.

And I haven't messed with changing the motion configuration yet, but I believe that's done in the admin page as well. "Wizard" -> "Devices" -> "Interfaces" and at the bottom of the motion wrapper will be "Motion Parameters". I may have had to set the inputs to 4 on this screen as well. Please let me know if you make any progress. -elspic
