is there a way to chnage the songs from the console? if i shh in from another pc?

i put all my mp3's in /home/public/data/audio in subfolders of the bands name, in MCE i can see the folders but not the MP3's any ideas?

What do you have to capture the IR from your remote with? What are you using to send the commands to the devices from the MD? Juliet is correct about the process but the larger pieces need to be addressed first.
When the hardware is connected and enables at the learn command step you point your remote at the sensor (front of the USBUIRT if thats what your are using) preferable withing 12" and it should capture the command.

From the interface , main menu, advanced submenu, click on the "Infrared Codes" button.
You will see a list of devices that respond to IR codes. You have to select the device you want and click on advanced button (in the right side).
Then, in the right column you will see the list of available commands and the 'learn button'.
Click on "learn" for the command you want, and you will see the message: "Waiting for IR code". At that moment you have to point your remote at the IR receiver and press the corresponding command button on your remote.
You will see the message stating the command was learnt. Sometimes, it fails to learn it and you have to try again.

There is also another way to input IR commands, by copy-paste them in their specific format (if you find them listed anywhere like this). You can do that from the web admin page/ AV Equipment section, click on AV Properties for the device you want to control.

problem solved, use http://forum.linuxmce.com/index.php?topic=1310.0 as the solution you need to change a file (replace nv with nvidia) and re-run the a/v wizzard and select ui2 alpha bending

i added the help to skype and yahoo, i havent seen them online and its been 2 days

i have the exact same problem, i reinstalled and now i get a grey screen with a white mouse after running the a/v wizzard

does anyone know what cards would work with mce and fta?

I have the same problem as Erik, fluffy and jester.  My vid card is a nvida 6500.

Fluffy, could you tell me how you edited /etc/X11/xorg.pluto.conf?  I am a bit of a linux newbie (though not a comptuer newb) so any help you might give would be appreciated.

you can modify it by doing:
cd /etc/X11 (it is a capital X)
sudo pico xorg.conf.pluto  (this will open the file in pico as root)
put a # infront of what you want to comment out
the press control + o to save
then press control + x to exit

I Get the same issue as Eirik above, my graphics card is a Nvidia 6200

After a bit more fiddling, if i edit /etc/X11/xorg.pluto.conf and comment out

Load    "int10"

The display then loads correctly :-)

i saw a similar problem and i solved it by renaming kdm.saved in /etc/init.d to kdm.
