Wow, thank AAM.  I just checked the files on my mce iso and those two files were indeed incorrectly named.  I wonder if thats why my Ubuntu will not boot after installing mce.
Is there anyway i can fix/uninstall the bad mce or do i need to reformat and reinstall ubuntu all over again?

Sharlee thanks for the suggestion but i'm totally new to everything linux.  So ssh...?

I'm a total newbie at all this including linux.
i installed ubuntu, updated it alls well. then installed linux mce waited for all the stuff to load
said it successfully installed and needs to be rebooted.
now its stuck at the ubuntu start up thing, (orange horizontal bar)
when i tried booting into recovery mode it also freezes up.
it stops when it says "setting up console font and keymap..."

I could use a lot of help if anyone has any ideas
