What program is used for playing DVDs?
Does it support Dolby Digital 5.1 surround sound?
Does it support DTS?

More information on this please. :-)

What projects use zwave? I'm not finding anything on freshmeat or google regarding "Zwave thermostat linux".

linux thermostat isn't bringing up much and for the price they are asking for the zwave thermostat I think around $230?

I could buy a digital interfaced thermometer and use relays attached to my gumstix device that would go way overboard but its looking like a priceable solution.

not quite the temperature control I wanted. I was talking the house thermostat not the computer itself.

I'm curious about the home automation mentioned in this video.

I would like to know what devices are hooked up for home automation?

I have a usb IRtrans http://irtrans.com for controlling ir devices I couldn't find any other premade usb ir trancievers that worked in linux at the time.
It can use an lirc client but has its own software for recording and sending ir signals.

I have a CM11A to control X10 modules around the house like lights.
I'm looking for a better option for controling the thermostat(I don't like x10 thermostat option)

I'm also curious what was used for viewing the cam at the front door?

oh and by the way I plan on getting the items above working with a gumstix
http://gumstix.com

I think a gumstix is a little slow and small for a true multimedia application but i'll try it out
for my needs of a house monitoring and control
Also gumstix isn't x86 so it would be difficult working with anything that doesn't have source code.

I also am curious on the tuner for the Linux MCE?

I just found a usb powered hd tv tuner that works in linux and had to buy.
Its a Pinnacle HDTV tuner and works good. It uses the em28xx driver :-)

Ok I saw a google video of Linux MCE vs Windows MCE and was kind of curious about what yall use for some of those options.

I was going to setup a few of the options I saw with bits and pieces I have.

specifically what do you guys use for
IR tranceiver?
Lighting control?
camera interfacing?

all of which was mentioned here

I use IRtrans for a IR transmitting and receiving It understands lirc
but takes a bit to setup it is usb and I couldn't find any others on lircs site that where

I use heyu in conjunction with an CM11A module to control X10 devices

and I use
motion with a Logitech Orbit Camera to view video
