Does Myth support Mp3 audio? I have some cds that need burning and I have not been able to find some for Linux as of yet.

Yes, Mythmusic can play MP3-files. I think it does by default, because MAD Mp3 decoder plugin is required for Mythmusic to install. Ref.: http://www.mythtv.org/wiki/index.php/MythMusic

As for burning CDs, you mean creating an audio CD from MP3-files? I recommend K3b.

I see there is an option to add a software package under Advanced-Software-Add Software called "id-my-disc". Is that what I'm looking for?

I've tried to install it, but it doesn't work. libdvdcss2 is installed, but w32codecs and id-my-disc doesn't seem to finish (isinstalled=i, compared to isinstalled=I for libdvdscc2). I installed w32codecs and libdvdcss2 prior to LinuxMCE. Anyone got this working?

Update: After playing around with this a bit more I noticed that every time I ran the wizard I turned off Asterisk and Text-to-speech. After turning them back on the "Orbiter plugin" is once again able to register.

I can confirm that. Re-enabling Aterisk and Text-to-speech and a reboot did it.

I haven't tried LinuxMCE for very long, but I totally agree that it's got a lot of bugs. Like someone else here mentioned, I believe they should cut down on the functionality and put their effort in fixing the bugs and making it easier to set up. It's just too much functionality, and things like capture cards and MythTV has to be set up manually.

You don't have to install the server edition (without GUI), just use the Ubuntu Live CD. The instructions below should be fairly easy to follow, and also covers restricted software needed for DVD and media playback:

Using Ubuntu Live CD you can start Ubuntu at any time to install additional packages etc. after you've installed Linux MCE:
1. Alt-Ctrl-F2
2. Log in
3. Type "startx" and enter

If you have a capture card you'll probably have to install ivtv manually (I did).

When you rip CDs in Myth, it fetches the album, artist and songtitles automatically. This should be a feature in LinuxMCE too. I think Myth uses libcdaudio:

I have my PVR150 working in MythTV, and installed it using these instructions:

I've tried to launch MythTV from within LinuxMCE, but I just get the MythTV-menu and after 5 seconds it all turns grey. If I start Ubuntu and run mythfrontend manually it works as expected. I guess I'll start a new thread, because I don't think that is related to the capture card.
