Yeah, switching to UI1 definitely helped my speed problems. There is a bunch of stuff that seems to crash the UI though.

In the video, you talk about how LinuxMCE will automatically connect to computers around the house to get media.

The only way I have found to get media in the system is to mount a network share in /home/public/data (and then there are several subfolders that I must classify the data in).

Do I have to create multiple share points on each computer that has media for audio, video, and mount each of them to the /home/public/data directories?

I imagine it would have problems since it is PPC, nut I'm not sure.

Yeah, I have this problem as well.

You guys don't need to "fool" anything. I did a fresh install of Ubuntu, and then ran the installer from the first post in this thread. I didn't have to install vim or do weird stuff like other people are suggesting. The only problem I had was with Xorg.conf.pluto.avwizard.

I got it installed with the 680MB iso, but I can't get any of my media loaded in to it.

Well I worked around this....  I ssh'd in and copied my xorg.conf file over xorg.conf.pluto.avwizard right before it started the xserver. You'll have to do this again after you select the resolution, but after that it seems to be smooth sailing.

I'm "Rendering Screens" right now.

Installation issues / Xorg.conf.pluto.avwizard
March 24, 2007, 01:45:47 PM
So I have my Xorg.conf file set by atitool so that I have my tv-out working (no monitor connected). I copied Xorg.conf over Xorg.conf.pluto and Xorg.conf.pluto.avwizard, and that got the loading screen working, but avwizard is still screwed up.

It seems that it creates a new xorg.conf.pluto.avwizard while starting up which overwrites my changes.

Is there any way to prevent it changing xorg.conf.pluto.avwizard?

Somehow, mine installed ok from the cd (took forever though.. 1hr+). Now I'm dealing with tv-out display issues though, so I haven't gotten through the av wizard.

I can confirm that your ISO has all of the packages on it, but I have yet to get the LinuxMCE installer to work. It either exits, saying it is finished without installing anything, or says it can't mount the cd.

I'm not sure why the installer couldn't just be set to look for the deb files in a given folder. Maybe this problem is why he was reworking the installer/disc for release tomorrow.
