Title: friendlyArm/mini2440 Orbiter progress?
Post by: mihajzm on March 15, 2010, 10:02:14 pm
Hello,
recently I bought mini2440 board with 7" TouchScreen LCD. I have already setup development environment based on buildroot.

I saw that there is work in progress to port Orbiter to this platform. Is there something to try or to work on? I have some experience with C and C++ programming for embedded devices and can help with this. It would be nice to see working Orbiter on mini.

I have already tried to compile some things (libDCEcommon,libPlutoUtils,libSDL_Helpers,libSerializeClass) but got problems by building/linking Orbiter.

I do not expect the existing Orbiter will get ported to the mini2440 now as there is a refocussing of our effort into re-writing the Orbiter in clutter and re-engineering the toolset & the processes needed to get a new UI skin implimented. Tschak909 is leading this effort and we're also involved too...this is actually part of a broader effort to recode a number of other parts of the system too and possibly to a new underlying OS too (but thats a post 0810 effort)...for now some 'proof of concept' work is underway in and around the Orbiter & supporting UI development toolset and this is likely to eventually manifest itself as the first step in this direction.

Anyone interested in getting involved should pm us ie Tschak909 or myself - we're looking for community members with experience in Linux coding/development primarily right now. Get in contact if you'd like to get involved.

All the best
