Title: Can the Embedded Orbiter be used as a speakerphone?
Post by: digilifellc on October 31, 2008, 04:25:55 pm
Other than the obvious applications (through your TV/stereo), I was wondering if this was possible as an alternative to a phone per se at the bedroom via a Chumby, or as a video entry doorphone using one of these: http://www.nobu-usa.com/products.html (http://www.nobu-usa.com/products.html) or one of these: http://www.advantech.com/products/70-In-Wall-Touch-Panel/mod_1-2JKQ2S.aspx (http://www.advantech.com/products/70-In-Wall-Touch-Panel/mod_1-2JKQ2S.aspx)

Plus a tethered version for the kitchen could be used in a high-end solution using this: http://www.origenae.co.kr/en/panel_t12.htm (http://www.origenae.co.kr/en/panel_t12.htm)

Any concessions out there think this is a good or attractive idea?

the non-OSD orbiters currently do not run a SimplePhone device, and thus can't be used as phone extensions....now, it is possible...but figuring out how to do it is left as an exercise to an industrious hacker.
