Title: PVR and HD Question
Post by: archived on January 04, 2006, 05:05:20 pm
All

I have an installation that I am considering,

It requires using 6 high Quality Cameras located around a site, streaming video to upto four media directors.

Questions are in one pluto system can I have 6 PVR Cards - 1 for each camera?

Will the PVR cards be able to handle Recording and streaming at the same time.

Can I use something like Myth TV to setup recoirding on all 6 PVR cards if required.

Would a Intel Pentium 4 3.4GHz 800FSB socket 775 plus 4 gig of memory be enough to handle this.

Would appreciate your advice.  I need to have the video at top quality on all recordings.

Also in my home solution I need to add some more storage to the core, can I mount another 300gb HD to the core? = Yes, will it be added to the public storage so I all the files on the two different hard drive show under the same library?

Thanks

TGD

Wow, that's quite a setup. I haven't seen something like this working, but there's a Pluto user (tinia) that has setup some surveillance cameras in his home. I don't think he's doing recordings though. This topic is a pretty unexplored area.

For the extra storage space, you'll have to mount the disc manually (edit /etc/fstab) and make the necessary symlinks in public.
