Title: UpdateMedia running at 70 % cpu on quad core ultra slow system

Hi,

I have an new motherboard an Asus p5K with an dual core quad proccessor 2.4 and running the AMD64 version, i found out that the UpdateMedia is running between 70 and 80 % cpu all the time and draining the power of my machine, does someone reconize this problem, i can't even startup mythtv or someting else.

I would suggest posting a mantis on this if your running Beta4. Make sure you give more details of your setup/installation.

Deffcon:  I'm puzzled.  Please explain a bit more

"dual core quad proccessor 2.4"

Normally, when you say dual core, it means Two cores on a processor.  When you say quad, it means 4 cores on a processor.

Do you mean you have Two processors with quad (4) cores on a motherboard ?

What motherboard are you using ?

i think he meant Core 2 Quad.

Sorry this is the right one -->> Core 2 Quad ( typo )

But now you mentioned it, i have also the problem with the i386 version!!! I think it has to do with changing from standard video card to nvidia, then i have an 70 a 80 % memory usage although my media is already scanned, temp workaround is to disbale the updatemediadeamon --disable from the cmd line. Someone else any ideas

So it was not the cpu and it is memory usage.
