hey guys,
I installed 14.04 fresh install last night via the netinstall method. I knew that my graphic card is not supported by latest Nvidia drivers. I had some rough time installing kubuntu desktop and finally successfully install Lmce with basic UI. However as I presumed the system has pulled latest driver for the card after I went through AVWizard.
dpkg -l | grep nvidia
ii nvidia-340 340.96-0ubuntu0.14.04.1 i386 NVIDIA binary driver - version 340.96
ii nvidia-340-uvm 340.96-0ubuntu0.14.04.1 i386 Transitional package for nvidia-340
ii nvidia-libopencl1-340 340.96-0ubuntu0.14.04.1 i386 NVIDIA OpenCL Driver and ICD Loader library
ii nvidia-opencl-icd-340 340.96-0ubuntu0.14.04.1 i386 NVIDIA OpenCL ICD
ii nvidia-prime 0.6.2 i386 Tools to enable NVIDIA's Prime
ii nvidia-settings 331.20-0ubuntu8 i386 Tool for configuring the NVIDIA graphics driver
Follwoing are the information about my Graphic card.
lspci -vnn | grep VGA -A 12
01:00.0 VGA compatible controller [0300]: NVIDIA Corporation NV44 [GeForce 6200 LE] [10de:0163] (rev a1) (prog-if 00 [VGA controller])
Subsystem: eVga.com. Corp. Device [3842:c297]
The driver version I need is 304.131. I know the card runs pretty stable with that driver.
My question is , how can I revert back to 304.131. and How can I prevent the system from pulling it again.
My Skill levels, ( I can ssh into core, I only know how to use nano not vim )
Thank you all in advance.
Teju.

Did you try the two changes I told you last night on IRC?
-
Hi Posde,
Not yet. Just to confirm. You mentioned to change line 78 and 96 in nvidia-install.sh script. And chage it to "304" instead of "340" ,, am I correct? Those lines belongs to trusty install.
After that I should rerun AVwizard.
Please confirm the steps. I will try. Thank you.

The lines for trusty, as you are on 1404, aren't you?
After that Restart_WithAVWizard and things should be fine.

Yes I am on Trusty. Okay. thanks for confirmation. will give it a shot.

I do not see such script under /usr/pluto/bin ,, Am I looking at right place?

Hi Posde,,
I chose re running AV wizard from Advance options menu, had a hard time to go though the AV wizard as the screen was too big but I made it through. The system now as overlay UI and following is the output of the command.
dpkg -l | grep nvidia
ii nvidia-304 304.131-0ubuntu0.14.04.1 i386 NVIDIA legacy binary driver - version 304.131
rc nvidia-340 340.96-0ubuntu0.14.04.1 i386 NVIDIA binary driver - version 340.96
rc nvidia-libopencl1-340 340.96-0ubuntu0.14.04.1 i386 NVIDIA OpenCL Driver and ICD Loader library
ii nvidia-opencl-icd-304 304.131-0ubuntu0.14.04.1 i386 NVIDIA OpenCL ICD
rc nvidia-opencl-icd-340 340.96-0ubuntu0.14.04.1 i386 NVIDIA OpenCL ICD
ii nvidia-prime 0.6.2 i386 Tools to enable NVIDIA's Prime
ii nvidia-settings 331.20-0ubuntu8 i386 Tool for configuring the NVIDIA graphics driver
I see, driver 304 in the list. not sure is that the one being used by system?
The system is running fine at the moment.
I would mark the post as solved. For now.

Do you still want me to create the ticket for the same? I think you said you already fixed it. If yes, I do not know how to submit a ticket :P
Need log in credentials for git.
Thanks.
