Hey, I am trying to look into whether it would be possible to host LinuxMCE on a cloud service, like AWS, so that I could control it from anywhere without hosting it myself. Maybe having it so that the core is online and sends messages to my devices in my home.
Would this be feasible with LinuxMCE? I have looked around and I could not get much information about it.

As long as you have a connection from your home into the AWS instance, I do not see any issue, apart from the regular things, like bandwidth, especially if you run the regular diskless MDs, that need to PXE network boot off of the core.
Would I do it? Hell no. Get a VPN provider, or use DynDNS to get to your home.

Thanks for the advice, I think this will be an interesting project.

MDs will take foreeever to boot. Tasks will take a loooong time to start. Lag will cause some instability in various areas... so the question is not really "can it?", but "is it worth it?"
For fun, yes. For production, no.

We do have the option of disk based mds that do not rely on nfs for full boot, only to share lmce dirs. That being said, most comms go through the dcerouter (core) and everything the system does will be affected by that lag.
