Title: What Android app to use
Post by: brononius on July 29, 2014, 09:13:11 am
Hey,

Before, I used an android app to control my home. But I can't seem to find this app anymore.  ???

The only app I can find is the qorbiter. But honestly, this doesn't have a good GUI for a smartphone (LG Nexus 5). I tried to change the skins, but it keeps returning to the 'red-like' skin. fe When I want to select a room, I need to scroll and scroll and scroll, and I see a lot of ID of devices I prefer not to see. The floor layout is so small it's not usefull.

So any hints where I can find the old app, or if I can change a setting in order to have a more userfriendly GUI with the qorbiter?

The good thing about qOrbiter is: All the screen UI is in simple text files. Look at them, and see if you can amend them to suit your needs.

In the meantime, maybe this wikipedia article is of help: http://wiki.linuxmce.org/index.php/AndroidTouchOrbiter

http://deb.linuxmce.org/LinuxMCE-Orbiter.apk

But you should play with qOrbiter as well.

Cheers,
Matt.

Would you mind updating the wiki page to contain a link to actual apk, please. Thanks.

but possy, we've established nobody can be bothered to learn qml. It not like I engineered a new orbiter framework that make the ui dead simple to edit or anything...

golgoj4,

sometimes people need a push. Sometimes they need more. Eventually people will go over the initial hurdle and figure out that QML is no rocket science, and the results are very fulfilling.
