Hi,
tested 1004. I could not setup 1080p 50hz in AV wizard on my MD. On the first boot 1080p did not work at all. Probably soemthing with the Nvidia driver beeing updated? (does it reboot after that? I did not stay with the screen all the time). I did then setup 720p and that worked.
On the second boot where i activated the AV wizard again from within advanced setings I could choose 1080p and it showed something, but I assume it used 720p size as the AV wizard was not completely shown a part of it was outside the "TV screen". this time I also tried 24 and 60hz, but the did not work in 1080p either.
I then configured xorg.conf with rates from here : http://www.mythtv.org/wiki/User_Manual:JudderFree
And then it worked with 1080p 50hz
MD System: Nvidia 8400 GS and Sony KDL-46W4500 - A little special setup at the moment - see also here : http://wiki.linuxmce.org/index.php/Sony_KDL-46W4500
L3mce, here the output you wanted, but from 0810. Is that enough or do you need 1004 (is not started at the moment)

Yes, that is enough. You should not be able to get the info on the MD directly... you cannot log in.
Well... I guess you could open desktop and open a terminal...
Please ssh into the MD's /etc/X11 directory, rm xorg.conf and xorg.conf.pluto.avwizard, then reboot. It should be reading this data and creating a modline that works. Thanks. We will get it figured out.

Maybe these codes should be taken as basis because they seem to work with a lot of TV's. I mean - if EDID is not delivering something usable ;-)
The only thing I have not got working is tearing free playback of TV.
On my old 0810 I have got REALLY god tearing and juddering free VDPAU accelerated mythtv playback :-)

I don't think you understand what I am saying. The code to create the modelines between 810/1004 is not different. If it worked in 810 it should be working here. We create modelines whether or not we can read EDID, we have a scheme which makes an educated guess if that is the case, based on what you enter.
However, you are generating EDID, and it looks right... so something ELSE is wrong... because it should be spot on.
I understand that yours is working. Everyone elses works without doing what you did, so what I want you to do is backup your configuration that is working, and remove those two files and reboot. This will take you into AVWizard again fresh, and attempt to create it all the right way from scratch. I am trying to see if it will not generate correctly, or something else has changed.
We do this dynamically. Please try again.

Strangly enough 1080p/24 hz works and also 1080p/60hz, but 1080p 50hz does not work. And that is the one i need.

It is being reported that your monitor wants 60hz at 1080p, and 50 at 720p... though it will run either at either.

Please try it at 100hz on 1080p. That is what it asks for by spec.

Can I have more information please? Which asus ion? I have a 16xx revo running like gangbusters on every display I attach... though they are all 60hz or higher.
Are you saying your samsung wants 50hz at 1080P but it will not display?

Hmm, I have not tried it yet, but I am pretty sure it will not work. Does the AV wizard support 100hz?
The TV is quite old now >4 years, so at that time 100hz was pretty new. And I am sure that there was no 1080p 100hz input out there... maybe today?
I am pretty sure that 100Hz TVs don't accept a 100Hz input. Instead they interpolate intermediate frames to effectively double a 50Hz input to 100Hz.
The motionview is doing that. Making the picture less "flimmering". I have earlier tried disabling it, but then the picture is worse as it flimmers/stutters more. Today i think they are doing the same at 400-800 hz.

"MotionFlow system doubles the PAL refresh rate and interpolates new intermediate frames of image data to make motion look more fluid and clear."
And I am pretty sure it will not create any tearing ;-) as I had that also with my old 0810 system and fixed it also there with settings in xorg.conf (see other thread compositing).

Asus at3iont-i, samsung tv it's 40" lcd 60hz B530.
The nvidia driver didn't download, script use vesa driver.
I try install nvidia-current but avwizard don't start x.

It would not be using vesa, it would be using fbdev worst case scenario, though I would expect it to be using nouveau if it identified as nvidia. My guess is you have some oddball pciid that is not officially supported by nVidia, because I have EVERY officially supported ID in there... and a couple of oddballs for some of our mac users.
Viking, I have no tearing on an 8200, on a 50in plasma at 1080P running full tilt.
Yes, choosing the second option (ui2 no alpha) will reduce the load and keep it from tearing. It sounds to me like vdpau is not working. Again... please play with your acceleration settings as I detailed either here or the other thread with compositing. Otherwise you just go no alpha. However if you are trying to use vdpau and, for whatever reason it is not working, then it will be worse. I can tell you that for sure.
I do not understand the 50hz problem. Typically your higher end tvs run at 120... you can run 60hz on a 120 etc... but yes... your tv is cheating to get to 100. I just briefly looked and saw it was something weird. I will look for a log that shows VDPAU interaction to confirm that is what is going on with regard the tearing.

Color me baffled. I should have asked you for lspci -nnk | grep VGA -A2
Your pciid is in there... it should detect and download if there is internet... and if not, use the nouveau. It should attempt to do this every time it boots.
