Title: Microsoft Kinect and LinuxMCE
Post by: aico on February 01, 2011, 07:29:21 pm
Hello,

what do you think, would this be a replacement for a IR-Remote?

http://kinecthacks.net/kimemote-public-beta-0-4-now-available/ (http://kinecthacks.net/kimemote-public-beta-0-4-now-available/)

The problem is, I am not that big programmer that I could write some code.
I think this would be a very "cool" way to use the MD's OnScreen Orbiter

Regards
Johannes

los93sol has started code which will use the Kinect in far more reaching aspects than the teeny little Kinetctmote.

Seeing as the Kinect is a high speed camera, with structured depth analysis capabilities via active infra-red that can work in any light conditions, coupled with a microphone array, using this as purely a remote, would be a complete fucking waste of a massive glob of sensors for $150. ;)

Just need Karel or fearingsept to make a "Minority Report" skin, and we're laughing :)

I dont think the graphics would be the problem, but the "under hood" devolopment that needs to be done to fully implement a skin that acts like the one in Minority Report....
Lets see once Adam is done with the code. We can start from there.

Karel

Edit: to get the animations to work might be a challenge.
