As of today, the Tellstick controller is supported by LMCE 8.10, see more at http://wiki.linuxmce.org/index.php/Tellstick (http://wiki.linuxmce.org/index.php/Tellstick)
It's still basic support, Power On and Power Off are the only commands supported, but on the other hand the installation is Plug'n Play.
I'll appreciate any comments and improvement suggestions.

Thats great, thank You very much.

Whoow, cool. Tellstick could replace ZWave in some simpler installations.
Can you please share any links to web shops that sell european compatible (220V) equipment that works with tellstick.
Thank you very much once more for your contribution!
Cheers,
Valent.

Thank you very much Joakim, finally i can get the lights going in lmce.

Hi Joakim,
I am running the snapshot 23589 from 8th of January and have done an apt-get dist-upgrade. It looks like the tellstick is not recognized by LMCE. Do i have to do something to get the template or can i add it manually. Do you know the template number.
-
I suppose an sqlCVS update will download the updates needed. Select the dce group, since all my updates was in that group.
The device template # is 2159.

Most any equipment in the lower price range will work; Nexa, Proove, IKEA, CoCo, Bye bye standby, Elro, Sartano, DIY, Waveman. The local brand may vary.
I tried to add a link, but I'm prohibited by the forum software...

Hi,
Thanks for your reply.
I have done an SQLCvs update. I have HR24 IP a satellite box as template 2159. Maybe it takes a while until it will be part of the build.

Joakim,
If you commited anonymously to sqlCVS, you need someone to approve the batches before they are available in an sqlCVS update.

It was anonymously. I've searched the forum and wiki but I'm still to find how to get it approved. Who should I contact?

Hi joakim,
Maybe through IRC, see this: http://forum.linuxmce.org/index.php?topic=10896.0

Hi Joakim, whats the latest news about the tellstick?
BR Daniel
-
Good news! It's added to the main repository and it's available to download with sqlCVS. It's got a new id, now it's 2263.
Any feedback will be appreciated, I'll try to get some time to add dimmer support soon.

Hi Joakim,
if forum prevented you to post links you can send me links via private message and also add the links in the WIKI.
If you send me links in private message I'll add links to Tellstick WIKI page.
Thank you in advance.

Hi,
I have done an SQLCvs update via webadmin but I can’t find the device template. Is there any way to manually update the specific device id ?
Br
-Andreas
-
I had to make the update twice to get the updated version down to my system. Try again.
/Joakim
-
Hi,
Thanks for the reply.
I’m probably doing something wrong, still no device “2263” . Is there any other way to do the update ?
-Andreas
-
Sorry, this is the first time I do anything with sqlCVS, so someone more excperienced has to step in.
Just to isolate the problem - did anybody else try to update and can they see the device template? Btw, manufacturer = Telldus, try searching with that.
/Joakim
-
No there is no manufacture for Telldus or Tellstick .
-Andreas
-
Hi
I have tried several times, no new template :(
//Krister
-
I have also tried several times and i have the same result, no template. I even rebooted core and reloaded core.
BR Daniel

Still no changes after SQLCvs update.

JoakimL,
did you diff checkin the IR table as well?
Usually, you should diff checkin the IR manufacturer table first, followed by a full IR repo diff checkin. After doing that, you can diff checkin the DCE repo with the commands.
HTH
-
Anbybody got this working?
-
No the template seems to be unavailable
-Andreas
-
It won't become available unless Joakim sqlCVS diff commits his IR repo part of the template.
-
Hi,
Any updates regarding the template ?
- Andreas
-
We need Joakim to send in his diffs in the IR section before it will be available.
-
Which I just did, following the tips from posde. I've been away for a few days, without any reach to my core.
I'll ask somebody to approve my check ins.
/Joakim
-
Great, thank You. I am looking forward to test it.
//Krister
-
Thanks Joakim. Looking forward to test the device.
- Andreas
-
Joakim,
due to the time difference betwen your initial checkin and now, there is quite discrepancy between your codes. Take a look at
http://schema.linuxmce.org/sqlCVS/?site=batch/view (http://schema.linuxmce.org/sqlCVS/?site=batch/view), select the IR repo, and look at your checkins. Compare the FK_Manufacturer. Do you think the information is correct? And if you think the info is wrong, please tell me, what the FK_Manufacturer should be.
-
Hmm, I realise next time I'll do an update before creating a new template... ;-)
Anyway, the FK_Manufacturer should be 1149. The description says Tellstick2 but that was just a name I used when still experimenting. Can you change it to Tellstick USB RF controller which is the name in my database.
The batch -76 is wrong, it contains old experimental code with lots of hard coded stuff in it.
The other 5 in the IR group seems to be OK.
The 3 original DCE checking from the 7th are OK, except for using the old Device template ID.
/Joakim
-
JoakimL,
could you do a sqlCVS diff locally for your IR and DCE repo, and see, if the device points to 1149 or to 8xx FK_Manufacturer? (no checkin of the diff, just see what the diffs are).
-
I've tried but I'm unsure if I do it right. I execute Advanced|sqlCVS|Diff from my core, select the DCE and IR groups. It takes a minute or two and then I get "No changes. Try again".
/Joakim
-
OK.
If you go into the device template for the Tellstick on your machine, what manufacturer does it show?
-
1149
-
and what do you see in web admin as the name of the manufacturer?
-
Telldus
/Joakim
-
Joakim,
it seems as if your DeviceTemplate data is nowhere to be found. The IR Group is ok, as well as the manufacturer, but I can't find any mentioning of the tellstick in DeviceTemplate.
Please create a new template, and use the InfraredGroup you've created. But before doing that, do a sqlCVS update of your IR repo.
-
OK. I'll retry. Good thing, this time (3rd time) I have a local copy of the Ruby code. And it's now with dimmer support.
/Joakim
-
No news yet, sorry for that. Something is broken in my development environment, resulting in syntax errors outside of my code. I'll try to mend this in the coming days.
Be patient, it will be available, and I got the dimming to work before the development environment broke down.
/Joakim
-
Bumping the thread, is there any news yet regarding the device template?
BR Daniel

Any News ?

Finally I've managed to get my Tellstick implementation to operate as expected. Lack of time and lack of a working server (had to do 2 reinstalls by various reasons). The device template is available now, just do a sqlCVS update to pull it from the central repo; important to first get the DCE part and then the IR part).
I'll appreciate any feedback and proposals for further refinements.
/Joakim
-
Thank you very much Joakim. It works like a charm.
Have you manage to get your hands on the tellstick duo?
Best regards. Daniel
-
No Tellstick Dou yet. I'll contact Telldus; I just though I'd better wait until I had a working development environment.
/Joakim
-
JoakimL,
did you consider doing a C++ device template as oppose to your GSD template?
-
Yes, that was my initial thought since I've never even seen Ruby code before, C and C++ are my "native" languages. The only thing stopping me was lack of a proper development environment for LMCE and time to set it up.
I have one more project going and since I most likely will work on Tellstich Duo I imagine that to be much better in C++ so I better get going...
/Joakim

JoakimL,
I am looking forward to your quest. I am sure hari will be more than helpful to get you going if you have any questions with regards to dcegen et al.

Thanks for this great post. Please post more on the subject.

I've had my TellStick controlling 10 lights and one power amplifier for three months now and so far it works as expected; no negative effects on LMCE observed.
I have one design question: My power amplifier has no remote control options what so ever (classic valve amplifier). I tried to have a device hierarchy with TellStick - Nexa switch - power amplifier. My idea was to have On/Off commands implemented on the power amplifier, these would be sent to the parent. The parent would catch the comands and resend them to it's parent. Since I didn't get this to work properly I' just wondering if I was on the right track or if there is another way of implementing this kind of hierarchical device structure.
/Joakim
-
There is no clean way of implementing this.

Nice to hear that Tellstick and receptors work nice with LinuxMCE.
But where do you buy Tellstick compatible gear from in Europe and/or USA? I looked at Tellstick page and most links I checked don't have (or I couldn't fins them) Tellstick compatible gear on their pages [1], and search also finds nothing on their pages.
I found some compatible gear on this page [2] but there is no webshop and no prices for any of that equipment?!?
So please share links to some web shops that sell Tellstick compatible equipment and I'll add it to WIKI for future reference.
Cheers,
Valent.

joakim, do you think you only need to add the deviceid range to the tellstick template to get the duo to work on transmitting? The reason i wonder is that i need a new tellstick and thinking about buying the duo. I cant find any info on it but i guess it uses the same RF transmitter and controller as the regular tellstick.

The only webshop I found that sells the Telldus duo stick is this one:
Beräknad leverans 2011-07-22 (Expected delivery date, currently not on stock)

Hi!
Sorry, I've missed these posts.
First: Availability of the Tellstick Duo: The first batch is apparently sold out and a second batch is in the making in the the plant in China.
But - The Tellstick NET (same as Dou but with Ethernet attachment in stead of USB) arrived to Sweden some weeks ago and should hit the stores any minute now. I'll most likely get an Tellstick Net and start integrating it with LMCE (there are APIs made public).
Second: Most likely the Tellstick Dou have a different device signature, but it's fairly easy to change the device template to accommodate that HW as well. If anybody does have a Tellstick Duo, could you provide me with the output of:
lsusb -v

Has there been any progress? have you managed to integrate tellstick with linuxmce? Where are Tellstick available from, any webshops?

Nice, there are plenty of supliers now in EU, very nice.
One thing I don't see are other tellstick compatible gear that can be controlled :( Wiki page is only mentioning "Nexa line!" of devices, but when I search wiki for nexa there is no mention of it anywhere else :(
http://wiki.linuxmce.org/index.php/Tellstick
EDIT: found list od compatible devices on Telldus site and added it to the wiki:
http://wiki.linuxmce.org/index.php/Tellstick#Compatible_Devices
ps. probably not all work with tellstick that is supported with LinuxMCE, some probably work only with Tellstick Duo wich I can't find reference that it is supported in LinuxMCE.

Any news on the Tellstick Duo?
