Title: Setting up MD with Foxconn nt330i for optimum video (HD)
Post by: daballiemo on November 27, 2010, 12:38:38 pm
Gents,

I have set up a new md (foxconn nt330i) with dual core atom and ION nvidia chipset. I have overcome the troubles of a not supported network interface so the md is up and running now. I am using HDMI at 1080p including sound over HDMI, also see http://wiki.linuxmce.org/index.php/Foxconn_nT330i (http://wiki.linuxmce.org/index.php/Foxconn_nT330i)

Next step is to get the performance to the level it should be, ie i guess using VDPAU. There i run into a little problem as setting up VDPAU only makes things worse as far as I can see. Searching on the forum gives me a enormous amount of hits, but really no overview of the status of VDPAU, Xine, Mplayer combined with mt2s and mkv.

Is anybody able to tell me the last status or more maybe show me the way to really get the md upto speed?

TIA

Han

I am not quite sure , you may want to read information given on mythwiki for VDPAU, could be helpful.

take care.

Thx,

I'll have a go there, but still not sure if 8.10B2 supports VDPAU yes or no. A lot of the information on the forum is speaking either in favor or against it. I see some info that the current version of mplayer does not support VDPAU, which is maybe an explanation for the fact if I enable it through the web admin that I get only sound and no picture.

On an ION/Atom based MD, I had the same problem - Sound only during playback of video and TV. when I switched back to xv the problem went away, however since then I deleted my MD and set it up again and now it is working fine.  the only thing I can think of is that the problem was caused by installing the W32codecs, have you installed them?

My core has been VDPAU for some time with no issues

Thx Techstyle,

I checked for the w32codecs and they are installed. The problem I have is that whenever I play HD content, be it blu ray, m2ts or mkv I get just a black screen and no sound. When I check top on the md I see Xine/Mplayer doing its thing. CPU is running about 10% so thats ok, but no display or sound at all. DVD content and live tv and recordings all are fine.
