Hia,
after setting my first diskless MD up, i've found that MPlayer_player was not doing it's job.
Trying to play a .m2ts file gave my a grey screen and nothing was happening.
So, after an apt-get install and apt-get update, pluto_mplayer was installed.
Did also nedd to apt-get install w32codecs.
After that, trying to play the same file, i got a black screen. Looking at the log, there's a FATAL ERROR.
mplayer (under KDE Desktop on MD) plays the file and on my core/hybrid, the file is also played by MPlayer_Player.
The MD has a Geforce 6800, an 1024x760 monitor on the VGA port, Video Card = Geforce or TNT2, hardware acceleration = vdpau, Deinterlace quality = high.
Is there anything missing or overkilled?
TIA,
Paulo

The GeForce 6800 is not VDPAU compatible, try setting your MD for opengl. See: http://ru.download.nvidia.com/XFree86/Linux-x86/190.32/README/appendix-a.html
Turn the de-interlacing off (or lowest) until you get things working.
J.
Hi J.,
did it (opengl and no de-interlace). same result for .m2ts file. Grey screen and no content.
BTW, there are nvidia-195-libvdpau and nvidia-glx-195.
there are ubuntu and lmce versions. Which is to be used?
Checking my system i saw that the ubuntu version is being used.
TIA,
Paulo
My ION MD has the latest version installed from the avendard repository 195.36.08 for both nvidia-195-libvdpau and nvidia-glx-195. Mplayer is working for me with, and without, vdpau acceleration.

For testing HD material I use trailers from here: http://www.h264info.com/?page_id=20 (rename .mp4 to .m2ts)
Almost every media format is handled by Xine, which is the default player for LMCE. Renaming files to .m2ts causes them to be played by mplayer, which is not well integrated with LMCE... Is there a reason you have renamed this file to .m2ts?
J.
Ok, so it matches.... :)

The reason for using mplayer is that .mkv files runs smoother.... with xine, it jitters and i don't know why.... i'm using a phenom 955 with 2 GB ram on a M3N78-VM (geforce 8200) for hybrid.... for the md, a sempron 2000 with 2 GB ram and a geforce 6800 (on the md i'm not being able to play MPlayer_player).
Most of my .mkv file are between 3 to 8 GB large.
