Last night I updated my core from "Update 2010-02-10 22758 " to "Update 2009-02-13 22765" when I rebooted the system it got stuck at the prompt "Starting Core Services. Please be patient", looking at the DCErouter.log it looks the DCErouter died after loading the Game player plugin???
Any ideas what can cause the problem, I disconnected all the MDs from the router and the core still gets stuck in the same place??
Update:
Webadmin is ok
KDE desktop is Ok
Today I updated my core to the latest version, I didn't get any errors during the upgrade, but it didn't solve my problem
Looking at kern.log I noticed the following:
Feb 15 19:00:05 dcerouter kernel: [ 149.325951] EXT3-fs: mounted filesystem with ordered data mode.

Any clues on how to debug this??
Ok, I found the problem not sure how to fix it.
Few days ago I updated my core so I can install Hulu Player, so I installed it via the webadmin similar to adding game player, and it did not work so I deleted the device which is device 111, for some reason it is still there entry as "Hulu plugin", it did not get deleted.
What is the best way to remove this "Hulu plugin" entry from the database, I assume "pluto_main" which table??
Here's the error from DCErouter error log
01 02/15/10 19:00:06.853 Got a device 111 with wrong device template 2021 <0xb6cff6c0>
Please see the attached image.
After few days of hard work I fixed my core >:(:
I removed the device "111" from the pluto_main/Device table, and I got back my core.
*****************PLEASE DO NOT INSTALL "HULU PLAYER" it will crash your system. *********************
It is not ready to be used yet.
dude, Update your DCE and Designer sqlCVS tables. Those are the wrong device entries. They have already been fixed. Please do not spout off at the mouth that stuff is broke, when it's not.

Thom -
Is the latest Hulu player installation procedure documented clearly somewhere?
Thom,
I did update DCE and Designer sqlCVS tables, and it did not work on 2/13/2009, I also added the missing "Hulu_Plugin.so"
simply selecting
- Hulu Player from the media director software modules page should do the trick.
I had to ask possy to rebuild the hulu_plugin.so due to the device template change, but other than that, the whole thing has been stable.
-Thom
Thanks Thom, I will try to install it again.
The reason I installed it manually because l didn't see on Saturday the entry for "Hulu Player from the media director software modules page", that's why I went and updated all "DCE, Designer sqlCVS tables", and all my MD's, and I added the "hulu_plugin.so"
I did not realize that was ready... I would have tried it already.
So to clarify - the current installation procedure is:
1) apt-get update
2) apt-get upgrade
3) sqlCVS update DCE and Designer
4) Add "Hulu Player" from "Add Software"
Is that correct, Thom? I'm not sure I know what you mean by "software modules page".
Ah, of course... Web Admin --> Wizard --> Devices --> Media Directors, Software Modules --> Edit.
There is no "Hulu Player" listed in there. Do I need to add the Hulu Plug-in device to DCERouter, or any of the deb packages?
Add Software is deprecated, and will no longer be used.
And you're making it too hard...
Update sqlcvs... select the DCE and Designer repositories.
Go to web admin->wizard->Media Directors... find the appropriate media director, select [Edit] from Software modules, check

That's what I thought.

Tried that - no Hulu Player listed.
it's there. I promise. You need to update your sqlCVS to be able to see it.

Updated twice. DCE and Designer. Hulu Player is still not in the list...
Also need to update the Website sqlCVS repo, then the Hulu Player appears on the Software Modules page.
Add it, then the install runs, but there seems to be a missing binary file...
Thom thanks, I just installed Hulu and it is working as it is expected now.
has hulu_plugin.so been added to the install process? I am still missing it...
jimbodude,
While I was debugging the problem I had with Hulu, I installed the plugin manually, and forgot to deleted, so I'm not sure if it was overwritten with the new one or it was not installed during the installation, it would be nice if someone else install Hulu from scratch and see if it works without any manual intervention.
I just did an apt-get upgrade, and installed hulu.
When I launch hulu, I get the message: I cannot play this media. Perhaps there is no a valid device in this entertainment area capable of playing it.
So it was not as simple as updating sqlcvs DCE and Designer repositories, and selecting Hulu Player from the software modules. There may be something else that needs to be done.

I believe this is because the hulu_plugin.so is missing. I am experiencing the same issue.
Makes sense. I can launch it from kde fine. Is this a bug, or is hulu simply not ready yet?
I did an apt-get install lmce-hulu-plugin on the core, and reloaded the router. Hulu works now.

um... I can't install that package... it doesn't exist. Yes, I apt-get updated... Yes, I tried apt-cache search to see if there was a spelling error. Yes, I checked to make sure it isn't already installed... No hulu packages anywhere.
Right, so there were a few issues here...
1) Package lists aren't being updated for some people. I'm one of them - this is why I got nowhere with the install. http://svn.linuxmce.org/trac.cgi/ticket/615
2) There was some missing stuff related to getting the hulu plugin package - Thom added it, now it works right. sqlCVS update the dce repo to get the changes.
3) I was unable to get the autogenerated scenario to appear on orbiters until I manually sorted them in the web admin several times. This is because UpdateEntArea_Media.cpp assumes that it can just select iOrder numbers without checking what exists in the database. In my case, one iOrder was used twice.
I now have Hulu running. The Orbiter controls are not ready yet - you must use a remote with arrows or a keyboard. Other than that, it looks like it works.
When sqlCVS updating, make sure to update each repo individually, and check all tables in the repo. For hulu, as Thom pointed out, you need the DCE repo and the designer repo.
And also the website repo, otherwise the Hulu Player option does not show up under software modules
