Since the upgrade to beta2, I notice that all of my HD recordings in Mythtv get choppy and/or stop for brief moments when played in Xine. Does this make sense to anyone that knows more about the changes in Beta2? It seems to me that the high quality/bitrate/size is too much for my MD/GPU.
I have tried to find a way to reduce the quality or size of the recordings and see if the stopping... stops, but I don't know enough about Mythtv yet to risk the possibility of breaking something I can't fix. And I don't want to go through the trouble if someone else already knows the problem or found a solution.
Any ideas? Anyone else notice the choppy/stopping video?
Update: Video playback is fine in Mythtv, so it looks like the choppy/stopping is only in Xine.
there is still some kind of problem with Xine_Player. I have to restart mine almost daily as its performance degrades the more it is used.
My issue is not isolated to Xine, it is choppy in Myth as well. I just ordered an 8400GS to replace my 7200. I'll update afterwards.
maybe you should go for an 9400 instead. I have small problems with my 8400gs (silent asus). totallymaxed (andrew) recommends 9400 cards. I don't have one, so can't tell if it is better ...
Anyone tried the new 210 ? It should only use 9 watts in 2d. No idea what it uses in Linuxmce though !?
I am legend (bluray) from here plays stuttering and without audio :

We use 9400GT's or Ion's in most of our Cascade MD's and GT220's in our top-end Dianemo Media Managers.

Thanks :)
What GT220 cards are you using ? I was thinking about getting one, but it must be silent :)

We use ASUS ENGT220/DI/1GD2(LP) GeForce GT 220 1GB 128-bit DDR2 currently which are fanned. There are several passively cooled cards coming though but they are not shipping yet.
All the best
Andrew
After the latest update, the choppy playback is gone.

With the new 8400 graphics card (and VDPAU) or without it (and with XV?) ?
With my 8400gs, vdpau setting, 1080i@50hz and 195.22 driver it stutters in xine when playing the "I am legend (bluray)" from the link above as before. Same goes for DR HD recordings 720p. But they also stutter in MythTV (and myth-video).

It is not solved. It is still choppy, but not as bad as before. I have upgraded to an 8400gt with 512M in one MD, and a 9400GT with 1G in another. They are all choppy and it doesn't matter what hardware accel I use. I am trying various things - wil update if I find the cause.
Also, mkv and m2ts are pretty much unwatchable. Very choppy and out of sync. I could watch m2ts all day before 810.
You should create a trac entry with your findings at svn.linuxmce.org that way it will not be forgotten
