I was trying to setup Hulu Player on my Hybrid Beta, I got the following error:
/var/log/pluto/129_Hulu_Player.log

Here's what I did:
1.Updated my sqlCVS
2.Updated my core "apt-get update"
3. Installed Hulu desktop using "Ubuntu 32bit" on KDE
4. Installed latest Adobe Flash player on KDE
5. Verified Hulu desktop functionality, it works !!
6. Added Hulu player to my Hybrid Orbiter similar to Game Player installation
7. After reload the router, I get the above error message??
I'm not certain, but it looks like the device is already started. Probably a stupid question, but have you tried rebooting your core?
there are currently no packages for pluto-hulu-plugin and pluto-hulu-player so this will not work. in short, its not ready yet.
this isn't in the last build?
http://svn.linuxmce.org/trac.cgi/browser/branches/LinuxMCE-0810/src/Hulu_Player
http://svn.linuxmce.org/trac.cgi/browser/branches/LinuxMCE-0810/src/Hulu_PlugIn
Or is more needed than those?
Thanks for the update.
It was not clear from Thom's thread if it is ready to use or not, so I just gave it a try.
If I run the Hulu Desktop from KDE, it looks ok, but when I select a video to play it crashes while it is loading, any idea??
I installed Hulu Desktop Ubuntu 32bit from:
http://www.hulu.com/labs/hulu-desktop-linux (http://www.hulu.com/labs/hulu-desktop-linux)
This would be great, if people can use it on KDE while we're waiting for the final integration with LinuxMCE.
Update:
I changed the quality to Medium, it is better now, I can watch videos, but no Audio???
After doing some more research about the audio issue, I found out a lot of people having similar problem, which is related to the Flash player, so I uninstalled the Adobe version and modified huludesktop configuration file to use Pluto Flashplayer, still no luck???
If anybody has any idea, that would be great, because the picture is really nice, but no audio!!!! :'(
Can someone tell me the differences in behavior between running Firefox 3.0.15 from the "Computing Tab" and running it from KDE ???
It looks like you can not hear any audio if you try to watch a movie directly under KDE even the Google Videos, but you can hear the audio if you run Firefox in the Computing tab, for both Google Videos and Hulu??? Even both Browser have the same version.
It looks like this causing the loss of audio in Hulu !!!
the computing tab probably runs it as root. are you using sudo to run it in kde desktop? if not, try it.
merkur2k,
you're the man, it worked :)
Hey, I installed hulludesktop and it runs fine from the KDE desktop. How did you setup Hulu as a device? I have a setup external devices before, but I don't see any way to pass the execute command for the 'Huludesktop' for an internal device/application.
I'm using it from the KDE desktop, I believe the code is not ready yet to install as a device.
Oh, ok. I guess I'm mis-interpreting item 6 on your list on your first post of this thread. What were you talking about?
I thought the code was ready till "merkur2k" replied to me with his comments below:
Quotethere are currently no packages for pluto-hulu-plugin and pluto-hulu-player so this will not work. in short, its not ready yet.
ah, Ok. Step 7 makes it seem that you had completed steps 1 through 6.
I just updated my installation to the latest update [Update 2010-02-10 22758 ], and installed Hulu, restarted my core and I got the following message below, any ideas????

According to [Update 2010-02-08 22754]

Pretty sure it's not fully implemented yet.... I get a "cannot play media" error. From IRC last night, seems like there is something missing...
Thanks, That's what I thought!!!
