Hi all
Im mystfied, ive tried pvr-150 i get no analog signal just a fuzzy screen and using the s-video for my sky box i get snow on my sky picture! have i done something wrong?
Ive tried hvr-1300 i get no sound s-video is the same picture with snow from sky box and no signal on television however it adds 82 channels when scanning
xmltv doesn't work there's no listings, when i run mythfilldatabase i get a error code 65280.
i have a hvr-1100 but cant find a solution to getting it recongised on mythtv
I'm using 0710rc2
any ideas?
Many Thanks for anyone that can help
Update,
Ive managed to clean up some of the fuzzy snow that appears on the s-video signal on pvr-150 just by making tweeks in mythtv setup how ever it still not fantastic i have streaks down the pivture and there's no signal on analog.
Does anyone know how to change myth TV aspect ratio permanently to 16:9?
Leon
Hi
I have the same problem with my pvr-150
Can you tell me what tweaks you did in myth?
Chris
Hi
I just tried various settings in mythtv general settings on the backend i.e. I use pal but I found pal-n worked better.
However I tried to us 0810 but I couldn't get past the booting of kbuntu 8.10, my graphics card won't display correctly, I'm wondering whether my graphics card need replacing?
I found this helped http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j2D5NvYf1z8

LinuxMCE-0710's installation of MythTV is probably causing most of your problems with xmltv and the grabber your using when you run mythfilldatabase. The s-video capture problems you describe are one's we've seen too and to be frank we just use composite capture instead - the quality is very good if configured correctly. The HVR-1100 & HVR-1300 might benefit form updated v4l libs too.

Any sugestions on configuration? im using composite capture now, the picture is better. but still a bit jittery.
Would using lmce 0810 fix all these problems?

The jitter might be caused by a small misconfiguration on the HVR-1300 or PVR-150 - what settings are you currently using for the capture on these two cards? Going to MythTV 0.21 should fix your xmltv issues - so 0810 would probably help you in that respect (we have revved our Dianemo/Cascade system to MythTV 0.21 and are using xmltv/mythfilldatabase reliably),
All the best

Im moving to 0810, Well trying!
In my previous post i said i was trying to install kubuntu 8.10 but failed at the first hurdle.
I was right my graphics card inno3d 7300 series was no good for kubuntu 8.10, so i got Asus en 9400gt that worked ok.
Had to install kubuntu 8.10 in safe graphics mode, apt-get update, then system reboot then install the recomended nvidia driver that work ok i couldnt see the font that well but i managed to enlarge fonts
I used the wiki on building 0810 from source however that didn't go so smooth i keep getting stuck on something like (svn branches/linuxmce_build0810 (locked) of the top of head i cant renember exactly what it was) when doing ./build.sh from source code,
I will repost if i end up going back to 0710

My question was referring to how your capture cards are being setup... what settings are you using for these?
All the best
Andrew

Well the same setup for capture cards in MythTV will be needed so let me know what settings your using when you get back up and running on 0810.

HI
Perhaps Andrew you can help me I have brought a asus 9400gt but I'm Stuck, I installed kubuntu 8.10 that was ok except it was in safe graphics mode, so run the updates, rebooted the machine, installed the recommended 177 NVIDIA driver, resized screen, increased the size of fonts slightly so I read the small text on screen,
Followed this guide http://wiki.linuxmce.org/index.php/LinuxMCE-0810_alpha2 (http://wiki.linuxmce.org/index.php/LinuxMCE-0810_alpha2) went fine no problems. Until!! I found that the screen size went back to small not wide screen and the ui is1.
So I clicked on the video res and sound button, system reboots, but no av wizard so I tried this http://wiki.linuxmce.org/index.php/AVWizard (http://wiki.linuxmce.org/index.php/AVWizard) didn't work!
I read a post about changing settings on the core so i log in on the home page and changed graphics card to NVIDIA and the box underneath I set to opengl.
That's made matters worse now on reboot I get a <you>@dcerouter:~$ and that's it I tried startx command and all I get is something about xorg not working properly! I can only assume this means that I have the wrong driver installed for my system.
So I tried this http://forum.linuxmce.org/index.php?topic=8460.0 (http://forum.linuxmce.org/index.php?topic=8460.0) sorry didn't work I typed telinit 1 in sudo and system goes back to kubuntu loading up bar and it sticks that way
And this http://wiki.linuxmce.com/index.php/Display_Drivers (http://wiki.linuxmce.com/index.php/Display_Drivers) same as above
I feel that I'm banging my head up a wall!
Many Thanks Leon
What is the error message your are getting when you try to boot? I might have a fix but need to see the error first.
I dont get a error message when i try to boot it just boots to <you>@dcerouter:~$ do you want the error message that i get when i type startx?

Well we use the 180.60 nVidia driver or later for the 9400 card or Ion based machines. I would suggest upgrading to that version or later at the very least.
Andrew
Yes please provide the error you get when you startx. Also please upgrade to the drivers Totallymaxed advised. I might have had a similar issue with another ubuntu system that might be related to what you are having.
ok update i've managed to get linuxmce back up and running to a certian point, i used esc at the grub menu hit recovery mode then selected the repair xserver
then hit resume normal boot, this then took me in to linuxmce i undo the changes i made in the core and rebooted. System restarts back to linucmce with orbitor, ok i thought back to square one but just as i was trying to enter kde desktop the screen went blank.
So i slapped the keyboard in rage a couple of times and the screen came back on tried to go to kde desktop screen went off ?
I rebooted the computer it worked ok this time, got to the kde desktop checked hardware drivers i see a 180 driver available so i activate and restart.
I'm now back to the screen going blank i have to press f6 f7 or f8 to get the display to come back on, but it wont stay on fo long .
Is there a easy way to install this 180.60 driver from desktop?
Thanks
Leon
Hi all
i have managed to install the 180.60 Nvidia driver from this http://tuxicity.wordpress.com/2008/06/04/howto-install-nvidia-manually-in-ubuntu-and-debian/ (http://tuxicity.wordpress.com/2008/06/04/howto-install-nvidia-manually-in-ubuntu-and-debian/)
However its doesnt work. on reboot it trys to load up kdm but graphics fail, i will take this to the kubuntu forum for a solution
Leon
yeah ! i managed to linuxmce 0810 working im using the 177 nvida reconmended driver i dont know if thats going to be a problem,
However i've run into problem ive googled it and cant find a answer; i run mythtv setup did usual setup cards and so on, mythtv told me cant find listings and run mythfilldatabase --manual, so i did, it threw out a couple of errors and shut.
So from kde i run mythtv backend, it wants to create a database, it asks for language, then shows me it settings, i.e localhost, ping database, database name and so on, i just click next it fails to ping so i carry on, it can't connect to database or create table from my guess. i checked mysql to see if table mythconverg.mythtv is there and its not.
What do i do?
