Title: Recent update bombs what little worked for me
Post by: infoteksec on September 11, 2009, 11:47:19 AM
Hi

Having struggled for ages to get anything to work (except ripping and watching DVDs) I thought I'd install the latest updates - a few from Ubuntu and a couple from you guys.

When the system rebooted and LMCE started up, I noticed a fleeting message saying "Orbiter with same address as 127.0.0.1 detected and will be closed down". True to its promise, all I was left with was a blank screen and a mouse cursor.

Restarting the system restored some sense of normality but on the whole, the upgrade was definately a downgrade!

I think I'll postpone LMCE until the DVD edition comes out when everything should be more stable -- hmm.

try doing a search on the forums for similar issue before posting :)

This is clearly your issue... it would seem that a recent update screwed somethings up for those that upgraded... but for those that installed afresh, all seems ok... so for now your best course is to reinstall and thus skip the upgrade...

Thanks for alterting me to the other thread. I looked but didn't recognise it as relating to my problem at the time.
