Title: [SOLVED] Is this DVB-tuner plug & play in LinuxMCE 810
Post by: Jones on September 10, 2009, 02:51:26 PM
Hi everyone,

I need to setup a cheap linuxmce, and i was looking into this tuner:
http://www.linuxtv.org/wiki/index.php/MSI_DigiVox_mini_II

But is there anyone who has tried it in Linuxmce or knows if it will work with a minimum of modifications?

Thanks
Jones

Hi Jones,

Well it looks like this USB DVB-T tuner has been supported since the 7.04 Kernel so as far as I can see it is basically going to work. However it will not be 'plug n play' inside LinuxMCE in the sense that it will not automatically get configured and added to MythTV as a 'capture' card. You have two options to solve this - use MythTV-setup to add and configure the card like you would if Myth was not part of LinuxMCE or read up on how to create a LinuxMCE device template for a tuner card and create one for this card

(Thom will love you forever if you go the latter route :-)... as getting device templates added by everyone who has a new tuner is a great way to 'grow' the number of supported tuners)

All the best

Andrew

As off LinuxMCE 810 Beta2 it is detected correctly by v4l.
So, all that are need by the user is to configure it in MythTv.
