Anybody have any Mainboard/chipset recommendations for use with 8.10? My Abit AN-M2HD is not making the cut :)
the M3N78-EM has been working very well for several of us. the only gotcha is needing to upgrade alsa to get sound working.
I don't know about the rest of you, but for MDs I'm going ION: Acer AspireRevo, ASRock 330, home built.. Not sure on the details, I'll figure that out when 8.10 is out and I'm ready to replace my existing junk computers with actual small and hidden MDs. VDPAU support is key for me.
Thanks fellas, any other suggestions before i jump in buy a M3N78-EM for my core? By the way i did dip into the motherboard wiki....but it seems to be all mixed up with 7.10 and 8.10 boards. 8)
Your abit should work just fine... you may need the older 177 nvidia drivers. but thats it.

yep, tried it with the 177.82 drivers to no avail. Still have the same issues as anupindi007 and having to use vesa drivers because of the that old black screen problem.
Ive been using an M378-EM under the 0810 alpha for a few months and it all works fine. Just follow the wiki page and the motherboard works!
yep, if i can't get my board working i may have to throw more money into mce and go with that board. :(
Another vote for the M3N78-EM
Would the M3N78-EM motherboard be a recommendation for diskless MDs as well, or is it too much for an MD?
You could use it as an MD, but IMHO its overkill (unless you have one lieing around).
I think it actually makes more sense as a MD than a core or hybrid, if only just because it only has one nic. it makes for a fantastic single board setup that has everything needed. there are some really tiny matx cases out there too, so it can be nearly as compact as the itx setups.
I dont see why it would be overkill, the MD uses much more resources than the core.
Thank you!
