is there a way to set up a the server side to run text mode? i have absolutly no need to run media off my server and am interested in running mce out of a virtual box and havent been able to it to boot up properly inside vmware.

yes, run core only.

is that an option during install or setup? ive never gotten far enough to see the option

search for core only on the wiki.linuxmce.org - I don't have the URL handy atm.

Hi,

On 710 CD install it is a choice.

On 710 DVD and 810 Alpha - Core/Hybrid is the base install. After up and running you could turn off Media Director and run as Core only.
