Title: newbie: tuner card question
Post by: truecourse on May 18, 2009, 07:17:10 AM
heyo,

So I just bought an old computer off of craigslist to play around with LMCE and I'm having a tuner card dilemma.  It's an old compaq with only PCI slots and no PCI-e x1 slots so it basically has to be one of the following

pcHDTV HD-5500
Hauppauge WinTV-HVR-1600

I want to record HD streams, so I'm pretty sure it has to be one of those two.  Everybody on the boards seems to be using the Hauppauge WinTV-PVR-150, but Hauppauge doesn't even list that on their site anymore.  I'm assuming it's standard def capture.

Any opinions as to what I should get?  I'm leaning towards the HVR-1600 just because of the second input and they're a lot cheaper on ebay.

You should really consider an HDHomeRun, its two tuners, attaches to the network, and is fully plug and play.
