Title: 810 alpha 2.15 pluto-system-database update failed.
Post by: pigdog on May 05, 2009, 03:50:38 PM
Hi,

Did apt dist upgrade and pluto-system-database failed.

I tried a couple of times but same fail.

Had to go out for a while so I shutdown the system.

When I returned LinuxMCE system would not boot up.  F8 showed couldn't connect to 127.0.0.

Reboot and into grub recovery.

Tried upgrade again but pluto-system-database failed --configure and couldn't connect to pluto database and mysql socket.

Tried apt remove install of pluto-system-database but same error.

On LinuxMCE reboot F8 reported lmce_launch_manager.sh line 30 segmentation fault V.2.0.0.44.0805082200.

Tried reboot again and then grub gave me error 15 - so who knows what the heck happened.

Am doing clean install to see if it can be duplicated.

Cheers.

 Hi,

I have the same here the core is dead and all the file system is owned by pluto_promptmysql
a lot of directories got created on the root fs they seem to be db tables names.

this happened by doing an apt-get update then apt-get upgrade.

first pluto-system-database install would not go trought then reboot and all dead gone bybye.

It seem like we are good for a reinstall.

I hope this get seen so today upgrades get put away till this is fixed.

Regards,

Rafik

Hi,

FYI

./mce-install.sh is giving 404 errors for pluto-boot-scripts and pluto-system-database.

Cheers

 Hi Posde,

I shall thank you for your time and great efforts.

I did the apt-get update and upgrade the latest pluto-boot-scripts got installed but mysql dhcp bind are not starting.

getting a weird permission denied as if some sort of selinux or apparmor wasn't happy with them starting.

Pigdog did this work for you ?

Regards,

Rafik

Hi,

Sorry, I've been out.  I just tried some stuff but I'm getting all kinds of garbage.

I'll try another clean install again.

I'll be back in a hour.

Hi,

O.K. so I forget about all the stuff that goes on - call me 2 hrs.

Anyway, apart from the regular alerts and warnings during .mce I'm back.

I'll rebuild via my original (personal) test plan.

I'll startup MD's tomorrow.

Hopefully any existing installs can go on with update/upgrade without having to rebuild.

Not that I mind.  This is alpha, this is my choice.

Cheers.

It is very well possible, that your system got thrashed beyond repair. When the pluto-system-database is being updated, the postinst script of the deb file checks to see, if it gets results from the current pluto_main database. I imagine that the postinst script did not successfully detect a running pluto_main database, and therefore installed a new one. And due to that fact did some more weird stuff. You might want to drop into IRC #linuxmce-devel, where we can talk about the problem.

I assume, you are using MythTV aren't you?!
