Hi there
i have a windows xp pc sharing a video file to my xbox360 using windows media player for test reasons ,.NOW my problem is that Linux Mce has added this video to my video library and i cant seem to remove it . it has also multiply by 4 . when i click on it to see where its pulling from it gives me the following address
file/mnt/upnp/server:administrator/Video/All Video/Mad2.Avi
file/mnt/upnp/server:administrator/Video/Video Genres/[Unknown Genre]Mad2.Avi
and so forth
Please advise how to remove it from Linux Mce
Cheers

You can't.

what do you mean you cant , if its available to add it the surely you can remove it?
UpdateMedia constantly scans the mounted shares at /mnt/upnp. So if you remove it from the database, UpdateMedia will grab it again, and there is currently no mechanism to limit which UPNP shares are scanned. We always accept patches though.

so tom if i disable the sharing in xp and remove it from linux mce will this work
The moment you disable the sharing, the files will disappear.
Keep in mind, that LinuxMCE provides a pnp server that shares anything it finds. You can rebuild its database in the upnp server screen and your upnp device should see it.
Also keep in mind when sharing files from a upnp device, to have it only share the files in one place, and to turn off any virtualization it is doing, the reason your files are showing up duplicated is because it is sharing those files multiple times at multiple points in a virtual filesystem to make up for the fact that UPNP is a very brain dead protocol in the first place. Making it share the files in one place, eliminates the duplication.
