Wanting to use my Dell XPS420 for a hybrid. Unfortunately, I bought this machine before I'd started toying around with Linux and got the XFi soundcard (for which there is currently no ALSA support). Since I'd upgraded, Dell didn't ship my system with any onboard sound. Been searching the forums for a list of known compatible sound cards (can use PCI PCIx or USB), but haven't come up with a decent list. Looking at the Audigy Platinum listed in the Wiki. Anyone know if the Audigy 2 Platinum works as well (seems like it should from what I read on the ALSA site). Not really picky about it at this point, just looking for some confirmation on a known good config, or someone who can point me to a list that I've somehow missed.
Cheers,
Ant.
If you can still find one, I just tossed a SBLive in my new setup and it works perfect without any manual configuration (including SPDIF).
Found an SB LIVE 5.1 card on eBay for like $7. If this works, I'll add a second NIC and then pick up an eeeBox for an MD. Thanks for the help, as always. Love this concept. Big thanks to all the people working on it!
