Can I use USB to program a new device or does it have to be serial.
I bought an Insteon Lighting control system and will be buying the interface today to plug it into the computer.'
Smarthome.com offers a Serial and a USB version. I would rather use USB if possible. Not becuase I think serial is bad but becuase I only have one serial port and no room for an expansion card.
Any developers intrested in working with me to get Insteon Support in Pluto working?
I bought a Powerlink V2 Controler and need to know if any developers out there would like to user my system as a guinipig.
My system is not controling anything at this point. It is barley setup so if anything got broken it would not be a big deal.
I would have prefered the USB version but didn't know if Pluto can control USB devices other thenthe bluetooth dongle.
found some software on linuxha.com if it helps at all. I don't know how to program in any language or I would do it myself.

Generic_Serial_Devices works well with both USB and Serial devices (just be sure that you correctly set the port in device data).
Regarding Insteon : as far as I know it's not implemented yet but there are a lot of requests for it, so hope that it will be implemented soon.
