Title: Media catalogging
Post by: Raul102801 on July 14, 2008, 11:36:43 PM
Is there any good documents on Media Tagging? I am also a little frustrated if I can't find something on amazon.com and I do have cover art of my own and can't use it 'cuz I don't know how. Also I am yet to find out how to categorize by type. For instance, I saved some music videos in the Audio folder using file sharing, the videos automatically show under movies but I would like to go a little further and assign them to the music video category.
Any ideas anyone?

Firstly, welcome aboard  ;D

Secondly, you can access and change all aspect of your media files from the webadmin. Point your browser to http://192.168.80.1 or http://dcerouter, use the log in credentials set up by Sarah to log into the page. Once you are there, across the top, you will see some choices.
Click the one that says "Files & Media".

Next from the drop down, click "Media Files Sync". This will open up 2 new windows one in the left pane the other in the main window.

In the left pane you will find the pluto file layout. you will see several options depending on your configuration.

If this is a windows share, you will see this drive represented under the "other" link on the left. Click it, and your windows share drive should show up in the right and left panes.

Again from the left pane, click the share. This will change what appears in the right pane.

In the right pane click the file you wish to assign cover art and attributes to.

Now the right pane will show the information for the chosen file. Using the drop downs, and the file image button, select all the things you want and assign your image. After this is complete, click the "update" button.

That's it, your done. Now you should have cover art, and attributes assigned to better navigate your media.

Seth

Seth - minor correction, "other" shares are for shares that you told not to use the LMCE file structure when it detected and added your shares. If you told it to use that structure then the shares will be under the normal data/audio|video|etc whether or not it is a Windows share....

Just in case Raul is looking for media under Other and it isn't there :)

Seth Colin
Thank you for your reply, I never got a chance to thank you since I haven't had much time to check this out. I followed your instructions and they were very helpful. I have several music videos that I wanted to be able to see independently of the rest and this will help.
I was just going to ask about adding Genre to my media but i think I figured it out.

Thanks again
