Hello Forum:
Can anyone help with sound problem on newly installed system. I am using

Hi Bill,
As Xine (or Mplayer in some special cases) is used for playing DVDs, videos and recorded TV shows, I think you need to set Xine to use the correct output. There are some information on the alsa website http://alsa.opensrc.org/DigitalOut (http://alsa.opensrc.org/DigitalOut), but I don't know if it will work in LinuxMCE.

You may also try the information here in our wiki http://wiki.linuxmce.org/index.php/Nvidia_CK804 . This worked in my case, although my chipset was slightly different and I had stereo prologic sound but no DTS or AC3 stuff.
I eventually resolved the issue by putting in a turtle beach card with optical spidf built in. This worked immediately and I could use AC3, and DTS.

I have the M2N SLI-Deluxe mobo and also had sound probs like this using coaxial out. I fixed it by selecting "manual configuration" (instead of "SPDIF Optical" in your case) in the LMCE audio settings (either on the LMCE Launch manager "audio" tab or in LMCE admin -> media directors)

So after you did this, were you able to get AC3 and DTS sound? I am curious because I have another use for the sound card I installed on another system, and would like to get back to using the onboard connector?
