Looks like Silicondust are very close to releasing the DVB version of this unit. Does anybody know:
1) Will LMCE need any updates to make the PnP work for the DVB version, and
2) Will it PnP just as well for VDR? (do the tuning, EPG, etc)
Col.
We will need to alter:
(1) the dhcpdevices part of the template to support the new device
(2) alter the configuration scripts to handle both MythTV and VDR

Hi Colin,
Thom has answered your questions so I'll just add a few comments;
The DVB version HDHomeRun has been coming for some time now so I guess they have had more hardware issues than they expected. I think the DVB-C side of the product sounds interesting but it has to support CAM's to make it viable and SiliconDust seem a bit vague on this topic.
The real advantage of the HDHomeRun is its prepackaged and has a small physical/energy footprint as clearly you could achieve the same capabilities with a low power VIA board and 1 T500 running headless with VDR serving the streams out over your LAN and have VDR on your Core use it remotely. There are many people doing this type of thing with VDR already (and I'm sure with Myth too).
All the best
Andrew
