Title: HP Proliant ML115 - is this powerful enough for a CORE?
Post by: ferdies on June 13, 2008, 08:15:48 AM
Hi,

Is the specs of HP powerful enough for a CORE with 4 MDs?
-----------------------------------------------------------
Processor(s)
Dual-Core AMD Opteron Processor Model 1214 (2.2 GHz) Option Kit

Cache Memory
512KB Level 2 cache

Memory
1 GB PC2-6400 0 ECC (DDR2-800 MHz) (1 x 1 GB)

Integrated NIC
Broadcom NetXtreme BCM5722 Gigabit Ethernet PCIe

Storage Controller
HP Embedded 4 Port SATA Controller with embedded RAID (0,1,5)

Hard Drive
160GB SATA HDD

Internal Storage
Maximum 2TB (4 x 500GB) SATA

Optical Drive
16x SATA DVD-ROM

Form Factor
Micro ATX Tower (4U)
------------------------------------------

I will add 1 more NIC and eventually, 4 more HD for Raid5.

Please advise if this is already a good powerful CORE.

Thanks.

That should be plenty for a core, but you will want to add an extra NIC before you install lmce.
That box is designed as a server, so it will easily handle the core.. BUT:
Server's are not known for having good video cards, consider adding a nvidea if you intend to use UI/2, or stick with ui/1.. (on the server)
