Title: Moving a good test system (whenever that happens) to a production server
Post by: bashers on March 14, 2008, 02:24:27 AM
When (and possibly if) I get my linuxmce installation working on my test system, can i use the backup/restore method as documented in http://wiki.linuxmce.org/index.php/Backup_and_Restore to get it moved across to the bigger server?

In one of my newly purchased Linux books (don't say I'm not taking this seriously) it mentions that you can move Linux operating systems between pcs with only minor adjustments. Is this truth or just a myth?

One issue that concerns me is that the original test server was built with the single processor option, whereas the new processor is dual core.

In ubuntu in general, switching between a SMP and non-SMP kernel is no more effort than a apt-get command or two. I don't know if LMCE has anything SMP related in it that would need configuring, I doubt it.
