I'm a little vexed concerning how I will connect my LinuxMCE box to my component tv and Sony receiver. This video describes connecting the devices http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=2176025602905109829&hl=en (http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=2176025602905109829&hl=en) via usb --> RS232 but my equipment doesn't have serial connections.
The only way I can think of is a dvi--> component cable from the video card to my tv and use digital out from my motherboard or sound card to my receiver. Would this be a correct way to connect these devices? Any suggestion or tips would be appreciated. Thanks
the serial conections were only for controlling the receiver through linuxmce. control can also be done through an infrared blaster/receiver. youre on the right track for video and sound though.
get a USB UIRT, and a Xantech 286 Double Emitter, you can control the reciever via IR once you've made a device template. Easy enough.. get the pieces, and come back here and we'll help.

Being here in SA (South Africa) it maybe easier for my to make my own IR Emmiter (from the LIRC website) that order one from the states. What do u suggest, will that work with LMCE or do i have to buy the WinTV MCE-150 and hack LIRC to get the blaster to work, since thats not support too..
best regards,
Sam

Would the remote that comes with the Hauppage 150 MCE, that includes the IR Receiver/Blaster, accomplish the same thing?
No, we currently do not support that. Please use what I mentioned above for best results.
