Title: cmi8768 sound card no Sound
Post by: edie209 on February 09, 2008, 07:27:39 PM
I finally got my first LinuxMCE box together today. The install has gone fine but I can't get any sound.
The sound card is a cmi 8768 based card with s/pdif otical in and out , I have it conected to a Yamaha RX-V361 Amp.

I really need a little help and advice on what my next move should be.

You should activate s/pdif otical in and out. Run alsaconf from the command line and activate digital output there.

Sorry, it was my mistake. You should run alsamixer.

Thanks for the quick reply I have gone into the mixer and turned on everthing but still I have no sound.  I have checked the optical connection and that is fine as is the input on the Amp (covering the basics just incase)

One thing I have noticed however is in the Lauch Manager in the Audio section I have no audio driver listed.

EDIT

I have just rebooted the system and the sound is now working thanks for your help
