Searched the forums but my question is can the Sahara Slate Tablet (i412T or i440T) PXE boot?
Sorry for the n00b question, but I am thinking about getting one of these wall-mounted with the quick release for the master bedroom so it would be the MD for the master bed and bath, but then I could also carry it around as an orbiter. From my (limited) understanding: to be a MD it should PXE boot; a MD has an onscreen-orbiter; and Orbiter software can run on windows. Or is it still a MD even though I can carry it around???

Sk1,
I'm assuming you want to use it via wireless...
I would NOT recommend a PXE boot via wireless..
That said,
I know, with 0704, you can install the MD locally.
I don't know if that's changed in 0710. I heard it did..
HTH,

Thanks, Dan.
When its on the wall I would have it wired, and that is when I would boot as a MD. When it's off the wall, it would be running Windows over wi-fi.
I'm just looking at these things to plan all my wiring needs in the house I am building. An in wall touch screen would be nice, but a multi-tasking touchscreen that I can also carry around as a tablet PC would be nicer.

If it's wall mounted there is no problem to connect it via Ethernet. But Dan, could you explain me, please, why it's not good idea to boot MD using WiFi?
In order to boot PXE you need:
1. NO security enabled (the wifi card can't use wep or wpa during boot...)
2. TFTP for the PXE Image (Trivial File Transfer Protocol)
3. DHCP with PXE BOOT enabled...
the big problem is #1. You CAN do it, but it would be a HUGE security hole as anyone walking by could log into your network.
Also, with wifi, the network bandwidth is SHARED across all nodes, and the maximum speed of the network is capped at the slowest node's speed.
ie: if you have 802.11g 3 nodes, and 1 801.11b node, ALL nodes share MAXIMUM 11mb/s which really slows traffic down.
Wired is your best bet.
HTH,
Dan
Not a perfect solution, but to avoid the WEP/WPA problem you could enable MAC restrictions.

Agree with teedge77. But in any case it's better to use LAN for MD instead of WiFi.
I'll just hardwire that one. Thanks guys!
