Ok i wanted to run UI2 with or without alpha blending...bought the above card and....it doesn't work.
It worked with UI1 and now trying UI2 with medium settings and whilst loading up the interface and the mouse is either frozen or moves very slowly and then i get booted into a shell and asked to logon!!!
SO i enter a userID and pass and nothing. I have no idea how to start the GUI from here.
Should i have configured the graphics card beforehand?
WHAT shall i do now i cannot even change the graphics back to UI1...then onl option i can think of is to re-install? ???
Any comment (even 'you're and idiot') appreciated. #
[EIDT] can i load just Kubuntu from boot?
Sounds like a problem with the grahics driver.
To reload into ui1 hold the shift key while booting.
Then look for instructions on how to install the latest drivers from the nvidia site.

I'm on a 7300GT, and it works pretty well on UI2 with alpha.
Only a guess here, but could you be running your new 7300GT with the configuration for the old card?
Have a read through this thread and see if anything helps. If not, ask again.
