I havent checked on the specs it has but maybe this would make a decent MD.

The Hotwire NIC (homeplug) will probably interfere with PLCBUS/X10/Insteon or anything else that uses Power line communication..
nice machine though...
yeah i just glanced again....not even out yet....no real details.
Ive surfed lumenlab for several years now, I built my own big screen projector from studying their forums. I think it ended up costing me $300 and would do a 720p 10 foot screen (width, not diagonal) at 1280x1024. Its interesting they seem to be going more toward hardware sales now rather than just an informational website. There are some smart folks over there when it comes to video stuff.

Homeplug AV won't interfere with X10 or Insteon or the other powerline control systems. It uses a 2-30 MHz band. it is easily killed with power filters etc.
The display is a perfect candidate for an MD but I suspect the pricing will be something of a jolt to this forum. At a guess:
42" 1080p lcd $1500
computer $600
Integration, case hardware etc. $500
some profit to survive another month at least $500
$3100. They may end up paying more for the LCD than it would be retail and that business is running 10% gross margins right now.
But I have a market for it at that price or higher.
ha...well....hopefully there a market for substantially higher. it just got pricing. :o

amazing specs but...jesus...$10K???
For $10K It could be make one at a time. Which is good because they won't make more. But the clues are there to duplicate it. The cooling would be the big trick and why a quad-core???
a better question is why 4 GB of RAM? they dont give any hint to OS or if they even put one on for you. apparently they just wanted to be able to say they put in the best of everything. the 8800, 4 GB of RAM, Quad Core Intel, dual gigabit, 802.11n. This is $10K worth of bragging rights....of course...subtract the fact you had to buy it and couldnt put it together yourself. It seems very "Heckendorn".

we use HomePlug network adapters alongside X10 without any problems here... just thought i'd toss that in ;-)
