Title: Sound Card 5.1?
Post by: jgaffney on January 03, 2008, 10:36:44 PM
Probably a dumb questions, but here goes.

In short: How do I get 5.1 sound out of my PC?

I plan on taking the output of my sound card into my receiver.  I have two cards that may work.  One is a standard card with 1 line out jack.  If I'm getting 5.1 sound in through my TV card or from playing a DVD , will I get 5.1 out through the line out on my audio card?
Or do I need a 5.1 audio card?  I do have a 5.1 card also, but it does not have a line out.  Just outputs for each of the 5.1 speakers, which obviously will not work going into my receiver.
Or maybe I need a 5.1 card with a line out jack (something I can't seem to find)?

Thank you.
