Title: Cheap PCI-E low-profile video card with DVI output?
Post by: jayeye on January 01, 2008, 11:40:58 AM
Can someone please suggest a < $80 low-profile, PCI-E video card with DVI output that is known to work with Linux MCE?

I just got a Dell Inspiron 531s to use as a media PC; I made the mistake of ordering it without the extra video card, not realizing that the built-in one only had VGA output, not DVI.

Thanks,

/ji

an NVIDIA 6200 based card with dvi should be sufficient.

This is so far the cheapest nvidea card I've found.  Do you think it will do?

it should work with 0710.. however, 0704 would require a manual upgrade of the video drivers (which can be a bit tricky)

as i said before, you'll have best luck, getting a PCI-Express based 6200 card.
