Can someone explain what remote assistance enables. Does it just set up access to ssh in or does it do more.
What can one do over the web as far as controlling linuxmce is just the wap capabilities provided in the mobile orbiter or is there more.
Thanks
Tim
Enable it, then tell me the number and I'll let you know. ;D
Just kidding, AFAICT that's how the pluto support people were/are able to log into their customers' systems and fix things. I have no idea how it exaclty works and if it even still works.
basically, it just creates an ssh tunnel to plutohome.com and creates a password which is paired with pluto's keys. The feature still works, and it is currently hard-coded to go to pluto's servers.

If your LMCE core's Admin website is served from an IP# that can route across the Internet (and you've got a router to route it there), there's no difference between controlling LMCE with that website on your LAN or across the Internet. Though I wouldn't route it unless it were protected by SSL (HTTPS links), not just the login password, because regular HTTP will let anyone who wants to sniff your packets just watch you login, then pretend to be you, and get control of your LMCE. Which would, at the very least, turn your home security system against you.
