Hey.
So, I have the core setup, and I have tried attaching my Dell Precision 650 Machine, Fujitsu Siemens Stylistic Tablet and a Clone PC to the system.
So far, the tablet is the only one to have connected properly, but without sound.
The Precision (the one I really want to use as it has the ATI X850 card), will not boot off the network with the onboard Intel Pro 1000 card. It starts, then gives you a NTP server not responding error. I have seen this on the forum from other users, and so far I can only see that changing the card would be a solution.... not for me however as I have no PCI slots free.
The Tablet boots, but the docking station with the DVD drive is unfortunatly not detected.
So, I am on the clone now... trying hard to get it connected :) Maybe someone here could comment on the network card issue above and the DVD Drive issue?
Looking at this post might help:

Hi, thanks for that link.... but what part of that post are you referring to?
Well,
I fixed this by putting in a 3COM 3C905 Card and disabling the on board Intel Pro 1000.
However, now I have a system that boots up, and runs along as if everything is fine... then.... I end up with a Logon prompt on the PC! Aghghghghg :)
So close.... very close....
Is this a video card issue? This machine is running the ATI X850 Card.

Yes, it's a video card issue. It's one generation newer than what is supported by defaults drivers. There's a package called "fglrx-driver" that you'll have to install by hand for now and it will add the ATI proprietary drivers to your system and configure X to use them.
Thank you for the response!
Is there any chance you would be able to give a Linux newbie like me instructions on setting this newer driver up?
I have managed to downloaded to the network boot machine the ATI Drivers. I also figured out that I needed to give that file execute permissions.
I have run the "run" file, and it appeared to install. However, on reboot I am still back to my logon prompt.
Edit:
I have found the following in the fglrx-install.log
kernel module: trying to install precompiled kernel module
kernel module: precompiled kernel module version mismatched
kernel module: No kernel module Build Environment
You can try using the Pluto Admin website, the "Advanced" -> "Add software" menu. Select the computer you want the package install on, type "fglrx-driver" and click "Add Software". The other fields shouldn't be required since the pluto sources are already configured. Be sure the machine you install on is running.
OK, I have done this and I see "Installation Complete".
Should I now reboot the machine, logon and run a command?
Normally only X would need to be restarted, but it's like to cause problems with the software, so yes, reboot it.
For the benefit of others:
It appears from working with the Pluto Guys that there is an issue with the X850 card drivers.
Hi Radu,
Sorry to bring up an old thread.
I wonder if you guys had managed to implement the newer generation cards yet?
Thanks,
Nick
I think (but not sure at all) that one of the nVidia or ATI drivers packages was updated since then, but I may be wrong about it. I didn't check for updated drivers myself so... (And I'm the one who updates them when needed.)
Thanks Radu... I will download the current build.
