Title: Lockup after first reboot
Post by: Navy2k on September 13, 2007, 06:02:08 PM
Hi,

I installed LMCE 0704 last week with a ATI Card and all went fine ( DVD Version)

This Week i got me an nvidia Card (7600 GS AGP) an my system crashed after the first reboot at a point where the Kubuntu-startup-bar was nerly finished.
Suddenly the picture goes cracy and it looks like an old CRT at too high frequencies.

Anything i could test or is it the wrong card?

Thx Navy

try to get to a shell alt-f1 alt-f2 etc. and then check dmesg and your xorg log (get the latest one in /var/log/)

Ok, it was a compatibilityproblem. I had a strange error like "could not allocate Mem to PCI:0:0:1" directly after the kernel loads from the cd.
I removed my DVS-S Card ( Hauppauge Nova SE2 ) from the system ant it works just perfect. Maybe i ned a newer mainboard to support both at the same time

Ok, solved the Problem.

The Error was " PCI: Failed to allocate mem resource XXXXXXXXXXXX for XXXXXXXXXXX "

Solution: agp aperture size in BIOS to 256MB and all is perfectly fine
