Title: Anyone using or thinking of using the LeGrand BTicino Bus system?
Post by: totallymaxed on September 28, 2011, 12:01:50 PM
We just added support for LeGrand BTicino bus bus based systems to Dianemo. Support is implemented as a DCEwhisperer device template and initially we are supporting Lighting, Audio & Video bus components. We intend that over time the remaining bus components will be supported. The BTicino device supports full 2-way bidirectional comms with the Bus.

If anyone here in the forum has any BTicino bus hardware installed or has plans to install any we'd like to hear from you. We'd be happy to help anyone with plans to implement support for BTicino components that have not yet been implemented - please get in touch if BTicino support is something thats of interest to you.

All the best

Unfortunately, the only page that does Bticino justice is in Italian: www.bticino.it and there's no language option as far as I can see.

Hi,

I have installed bticino for many years, before meeting and becoming knx partner.
Frankly I consider it a system less practical and less flexible compared to knx, the only strong point is its ease of integration with audio video and great looks.

Also for those wishing to use that, provide for large distribution cabinet, since we need a large quantity of devices.
For example in a litle house (100mq) I install an 170 din modules and it's very full (audio, clima, system alarm, automation lights).

After I tried both ... I love knx.

Hi rages,

a friend of me is building a new home unsing KNX, a other friend of me will start building a new home next year and he looked at both systems. The one who is starting next year ist goning to use BTicino. For the most home needs it is powerfull enough (I use BTcino too). With BTicino MyHome I had best best experiences.

I think it will be a religious war what system is better. Each one has its benefits.

But the most important thing - Dianemo an LinuxMCE will support both systems KNX and BTicino MyHome  ;)

Great. Talk to aico as he can give you a user perspective on the BTicino installation in his own home. We're really keen to see users who want this type of system get involved as we would love to add support for more devices to the BTicino device template.

All the best

I think the great thing is that because aico had Bticino installed and wrote the first version of the device template we were able to use his home as a great environment to expand and improve the bticino integration.

The really exciting thing is that bticino, knx, ZWave etc will all appeal to different people in different ways and for different reasons. It is the flexibility and choice that we are keen to deliver so that users can make a decision not based on there only being 'one way' but based on the 'way' that is best for them.

Arguing the pro's & con's of one over the other is amusing (as long as people don't get too serious... or 'religious' about it lol!) but the real power is having the choice.

all the best

Aint a language a nice thing...

There is CURRENTLY no BTicino support in LinuxMCE. But there WILL be BTicino support as soon as stuff has been brought over into our sqlCVS and our svn (probably by Uplink).

So, both of you are right.
