Title: HDMI Audio on Zotac ION 230N
Post by: rndinokc on June 13, 2011, 10:50:20 AM
I have a general question.  I have a new Zotac Ion 230N as a Media Director I followed the instructions and have HDMI audio working into a LCD TV.  My question is:  Does the volume control on the Media Director control the volume going to the TV or will it control the volume on the TV.  In other words, is the HDMI audio output fixed coming from the media director?  Monitoring Alsamixer during a volume change does not cause any activity.  Also Mute does not work.  Is this because the mute command is supposed to mute the TV and not the output from the Media Director?  Many thanks to L3mce for helping me get this far.

Thanks,
Randy

Whenever you connect sound via a digitial link, volume control happens at the destination, i.e. the TV set in this scenario
